We were skeptical before heading to the restaurant because of all the reviews we read and no surprises here India Palace has definitely tanked. It used to be so good 20 years ago, but it certainly has lost the charm it once had. We gave the place a shot based purely on nostalgia and we weren't amazed by it. The service is quick and decently polite. The staff keeps bringing you water every now and then, which after a point makes you feel you're being rushed to order or get going even when the restaurant is a mere 10% full to it's capacity. We called for tandoori chicken, which never made to our table (in a sense we are glad because the food wasn't anything spectacular). We called for goat biryani, chicken saag, paneer makhani, and lamb korma. Goat Biryani: It was smelly, full of goat fat, tasted old and not fresh. We didn't like it at all and had to give it away with more than half still on the plate. Chicken Saag: They probably thickened it with corn flour. The chicken pieces were good, but the gravy didn't have any seasoning and we found it just above average. Paneer Makhani: The paneer was soft, tender, gravy was delicious. Had good seasoning. Tasted fresh and was probably tastier than we anticipated. Could have been less sweet as it tasted more like shahi paneer than makhani. Lamb Korma: This dish was the best from all that we ordered. The lamb pieces were juicy, delicious, and did full justice to the price we paid. Unfortunately it was the only dish that stood out for us, but not enough for us to come back to it. The tandoori naans were burnt from all corners, but were buttered and felt like they were made fesh. All in all, India Palace has nothing special going on for them as it once had two decades ago. The ambiance is no more palatial as it once felt and is just another restaurant on Manchester that may serve Indian food if you ran out of options in the whole of St Louis.

This was the first Indian restaurant I tried in the area. It had four stars so I figured that it had to be pretty good. Unfortunately, I would have to say that the individuals rating these restaurants are too generous. Although the customer service was decent, I cannot say that I was impressed with the selection of the food on the buffet or the flavor. Of the vegetarian dishes that were on the buffet, I found the seasonings to be too much for me, especially since I do not like the taste of salt in my food; the saag was too salty. Also, would have liked to have seen more vegetable dishes versus vegetarian, which in this case means no vegetables. I love Indian cheese, paneer, but I did not like the taste of this paneer at all. It was so bad that I could not even eat it; there was an awkward after taste that just did not go over well with me and there was a awkward something else, of which I don't know what it was, but it just did not agree with my palate. I made the best of it, but I was not satisfied and will not be returning. In fact, I attempted to find another Indian buffet to go to. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with any of those either. Thus, I give up on Indian food in this area. By the way, my esophagus has been disturbed by whatever seasonings they used in the curry goat and/or dal mahkni.

We have gone a couple of times. The first time was during their lunch hour for the buffet. The second time was on a Friday night. Its crowded on Fridays and weekends. They are known for the buffet lunch. Their lunch buffet is priced well and their selections are really good. I really love their food flavors. It is one of the better tasting buffet for Northern Indian food. Going for their dinner time is a different experience. You get to customize your plate to your taste. I specially loved this because I can increase how spicy my food is. There is plenty of parking space. Clean and good ambiance. Plenty of dish options. Some staffs are pleasant and welcoming, a couple seem not to be. Overall, its a good place for 'North Indian food' lovers.

I have come to this place numerous times in the past 4 years. I will give a clear and honest break down.

Catering - 0/ Yes! The absolute worst when it came to catering. I got them for my wedding(I was the groom) and it was a nightmare. They did not have a contract stating any terms. They expected me to take a verbal agreement like we were best friends. I still paid the amount I owed but I will give you a breakdown of why I will never recommend them for catering.

This is based on a plan I proposed 8 months before the wedding.

1, 2 days before the wedding I was told I had to figure a way to return their chafers the very next day after wedding for their ''lunch buffet". Apparently they have only one set of chafers. I had the best man take this obligation until the driver they send to get the food to the venue told our catering agency that he himself will take the chafers back the very night. Hence my best man figured its no longer his problem. This could have been avoided if there was a contract. I spoke to the guy several times yet he kept avoiding the contract. Possibly because they didn't want to be sued.

2, We had our reception right after our ceremony. So as I was preparing to walk down the aisle... I get a text from them asking for the address to the venue... 15 mins before I walk down the aisle!!! Once again this could have been avoided if there was a contract!

3, By the end of the of my wedding night my least concern should be their chafers, but I took the initiative to call them and ask if their driver is going to come... And his response was "you promised to deliver it back so it's your responsibility." He said he will charge us 35 dollars (like this was a huge amount I would have disagreed to pay along with the food). I couldn't believe what was being told. They sent a moron for a driver and and in return pointed the fingers at me. Once again this could have been avoided.

I had to wake up the very next morning and return their chafers. The guy who had the audacity to still take my check and not apologize, was commenting that it was my wedding the night before intentionally bringing it up like I wasn't supposed to enjoy my honeymoon. Also, smirking while doing that too. F* them for the worst service I have ever received and ruining my wedding. I had no peace of mind!

DO NOT CONSIDER THEM FOR CATERING! Lunch Buffet - 2.5

Service - 1/ At one point of time one of the waiters asked me if I wanted to receive the change. As I have read in the other comments they do stare a lot too. Can be avoided.

Ambiance - 2.5/ The view outside is good but they could do a better job with the inside... They have a cave like feeling in the inside. Some might like it... Some don't. Really dark around the...

Title: Terrible Experience at Indian Palace in Maryland Heights, MO

I recently visited Indian Palace in Maryland Heights, MO, for lunch with two friends, and I must say it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. From the tasteless dishes to the rude behavior of the server, everything about our visit left a sour taste in our mouths.

Firstly, let's talk about the food. We ordered the chili paneer, cholley bhature, and paneer tikka masala, hoping for an authentic and flavorful Indian meal. Unfortunately, all three dishes fell short of our expectations. The chili paneer lacked any hint of spice or flavor, making it taste more like bland tofu than the robust Indian dish it should have been. The cholley bhature was greasy and heavy, and the bhature itself was overcooked and rubbery. As for the paneer tikka masala, it was devoid of any complexity or richness that is characteristic of this popular dish. The paneer was rubbery and the sauce tasted like a watered-down, generic tomato puree. Overall, the food was a huge disappointment, lacking the vibrant flavors and quality ingredients we expected.

Adding insult to injury, the server's attitude was downright rude. We had questions about the menu and requested some recommendations, but instead of being helpful, the server seemed impatient and dismissive. It felt as though we were a bother to them, and their lack of professionalism left a lasting negative impression on our experience. A little bit of courtesy and assistance can go a long way in making customers feel welcome and valued.

Considering the tasteless food, the rude server, and the lackluster ambiance, I would not recommend Indian Palace in Maryland Heights, MO, to anyone looking for an enjoyable Indian dining experience. There are undoubtedly better options available in the area that offer delicious food, attentive service, and a more inviting atmosphere. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out an alternative dining spot for your Indian...
