As someone with celiac disease, Jersey Mike's is generally one of the few restaurants I feel safe to eat at. It is very rare that I order food out because most restaurants have no allergy protocols. I have been to other Jersey Mike locations and they have always been very conscientious to avoid any cross contact with gluten containing products. However, I left this location feeling really anxious and discouraged. The employee who took my order seemed annoyed when I asked questions about their procedures to avoid cross contamination, something I've learned I have to do because not everyone is aware of how even a crumb from a knife could leave someone like me sick and in severe pain for several days to weeks. The meat slicer was my biggest concern because it had flecks of food all over it, even though she told me she just cleaned it. I was left with a choice to throw out my sandwich, uneaten, or take my chances and trust that it was only meat and cheese bits left on the slicer. To top all that off, she was careless in slicing the bread so one side was significantly thicker than the other side, and all the toppings and condiments were put on haphazardly so when I went to eat it, one half of the sandwich was very dry, while the other seemed to have all of the condiments and pickles.
Please train your employees to follow celiac safe protocols and to be kind. I know it takes a little extra time and I all too often feel like a burden and annoyance having to ask these questions, but the alternative for me and others with celiac disease is risking not only being sick for a few days, but also causing irreversible damage to internal...
Read moreAs advertised, jersey mikes supposedly offers a gluten free bun, or the option to have a “sub in a tub with no bun.” Yesterday, my mother and i visited this location to order subs in a tub (she is gluten free and I am low carb). We informed the person taking our orders that my mother has a gluten allergy. As you cannot guarantee that your restaurant is certified gluten free, the least you could do was inform your staff to not use the same gloves, knives etc on a sub in a tub, and then proceed to set our tubs on top of a pile of bread crumbs and then “accidentally” sprinkle said bread crumbs into the sub in a tub aka a salad. Not only that, they were making 6-8 subs at a time without changing gloves. Can you say health violation?
I am editing this review from a one star to a 4 star. Although my visit was not as expected at this location, Debbie (responded below) has handled my complaint in a very...
Read moreSimilar to Paul Davis below. Came in to pick up a catering pre-order. Stood in there by what I assumed was my order for a good five/ten minutes or so. Tried to get the attention of some of the workers. No one helped me, but when other people came in to order, they were helped. I know after I ordered and paid online it said I could take the food on the counter if it was already paid for and leave. So that's what I ended up doing. When I got in the car, some older guy who worked there ran to my car with some condiments for my order and crudely asked me if I had even tried to get someones attention. A) YES and B) Apparently it's my fault that no one wanted to help me. I tried to laugh it off but he just shook his head and walked away. Maybe he was having a bad day, but I was having a bad day too and this just put a sour taste in my mouth. I don't think...
