We usually go to Panera in Olney, that day we happened to be in Silver Spring, Tech. road. My son ordered his usual which was pick two, 4 cheese grilled cheese sandwich and clam chowder. While waiting for the order he was told that no more clam chowder so he opted for tomato soup instead. When the order finally came out his grilled cheese sandwich only consist of a half piece of bread with cheese but no bottom part. When I took it back to the counter, the man working behind the counter that looked like the manager that night insisted that’s the correct half size grilled cheese for pick two. I told him that we knew what it supposed to look like because we always gets it from Panera in Olney, MD, plus this one did not look anywhere like the picture on their wall advertised for pick two (they had an exact pick two picture on their wall for 4 cheese grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup). The manager also said that they ran out of the white bread to make that sandwich. At this point I refused to back out, I told him he needs to make my son a new proper grilled cheese sandwich. After long back and forth he finally agreed to make us a new one with focaccia bread which is fine with us. The man (the manager) was rude and did not make sense to me, he wanted us just to accept the poor quality food. I also could see dirty floor and counter behind the pickup counter. I used to use this Panera Bread's example when I spoke to other people regarding their customer service and overall presentation of the store whenever I went in. For the past year (not full COVID year), they have begun to fall off. By this, I mean that either they lack employees, or the motivation to get things done in a timely manner. I have had the coffee subscription in my family for the whole year and just to get a cup of coffee that is "free" since I have the membership, I have to wait in line because this Panera decided to staff 2 people during a 4pm shift whereas I have to be at work and could've been in and out of a Starbucks in less than 5 minutes. It seems that every time I go in there, all the staff is moving slowly, some are busy talking, and it takes longer than it should to get your food and move on. Furthermore, their coffee making space is horrible. I ordered the new Cinnamon Crunch Latte's twice and both times, the lady messed it up with the size, and then overfilled the cup, let it sit their dirty, cleaned the sides with a dirty napkin and tried to give me that cup to sip. Read moreI have been coming to this location for over 5 years and this time has been by far the worst experience I have had at Panera. I ordered curbside pick up consisting of one pick-two option and the other a whole sandwich. Firstly, the worker that brought me my order didn't even confirm who I was or if that was my order. Not to mention, me and my boyfriend both said thank you and we didn't even get eye contact, very rude. I made sure to check the order and of course both of the sandwiches were made wrong and looked like complete garbage. So we decided to go back and ask them to add the missing toppings & condiments onto the sandwiches. So they took it back and of course they messed it up again. Instead of simply adding what was missing, they just remade my sandwich and did not even bother with my boyfriend's sandwich. I appreciate them for making a whole new sandwich but completely neglected the other sandwich?? Why make only one sandwich right and not address the other one?
