Playa Bowls — Restaurant in Maryland

I have been a frequent (often weekly) customer of Playa Bowls for about 3 years now and I absolutely love their bowls. I patronize three locations in my area depending on which is the most convenient at the time, but I visit this location the most because it is closest to my house. When I first started coming here, the bowls were amazing. The acai base was frozen, the fruit was fresh, the bowls were full, and the overall presentation was great. For the past 6 months, the quality of the bowls have consistently been bad. The acai base is consistently melted, the fruit is rarely fresh (especially the bananas with them often being brown and soft), the bowls are NEVER full, and the overall presentation is horrible (the fruit isn't evenly sliced and everything is just thrown into the bowl). I even asked one of the employees why they don't fill up the bowls anymore and she said "because management doesn't allow them to."

I've continued to come here despite several disappointments with the hopes that it would get better, but it has not. And what makes it more disappointing is that when I go to the Navy Yard and Burtonsville locations, which are near my jobs, my experiences are completely different. The base is frozen, the fruit is fresh, the bowls are always full to the rim, and the presentation is perfect. One day, I even overhead the manager at the Navy Yard location tell an employee to make sure the bowls are full because customers are paying $12-$15 for a bowl and that is not a cheap price. I appreciate that type of consideration when I am spending my money at a business and I wish the Annapolis location would adapt that same mindset.

I was just hoping my three dollar off coupon: was still there on screen-because my last visit when I went in on I believe it was the ninth I was going to use it but it was on the screen and I was told it’s always on the screen so don’t worry if you don’t use it today (so then because I was in a rush I didn’t use it that day and figured I’d come back earlier in the day anyway. )

Well when I pulled up the screen today to use it it was still there, I was told that’s always there it’s for Rewards… and I needed more points. It’s to show you how many points you need till I get 3.00 off. Oh.

He didn’t know; on the 9th then a staff although not his fault said I didn’t have to use the 3.00 off we miss you Text that day, that it would still be one the screen. So I didn’t

Can you reissue me my “we missed you 3.00 off?” It’s now past that date. He said it would always be there. Just misunderstood.

Just ordered take out for the first time. They were incredibly busy with only 1 employee. He was doing his best to fill all of his orders. I didn't order an acai bowl off the list, but instead chose to create my own, which was probably a little more tedious for him. Nevertheless, he took my order with patience and a smile. After ringing me up, he did show me the other orders that were in front of me and explained that he was doing the best he could to fill them all, but he had those to fill first and he was working alone. I understood and felt that he represented the company well by being so pleasant under stress, taking the time away from completing the orders he already had to take my order and then explained very clearly where my order stood in the line of production. As a former business owner, I was impressed. A few minutes later, his colleague showed up to help him through the rush and my order was completed fairly quickly. Despite having to wait, I would go again. The bowl was outstanding, the options for ingredients was suitable for vegan, gluten free and dairy free, which worked well for me. And the bowl was FILLED.
