sakura express — Restaurant in Suitland

Tried out Sakura Express and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the teriyaki chicken with white rice, and it arrived fresh, hot, and had a little “stank” on it—in the best way. The chicken had those crispy edges I love, and the veggies were bright green, nicely seasoned, and cooked just right. I added a side of broccoli, and they didn’t miss—fresh and flavorful.

Shoutout to them for following instructions too. I asked for light sauce on the teriyaki, and it was perfectly coated—not swimming in glaze, just enough to hit the flavor without overpowering.

Now, sushi from express spots usually isn’t my thing, but their photos reeled me in. I played it safe with the California rolls. The avocado looked super fresh and ripe, though the taste leaned a bit bitter. Still, the sushi rice was on point—seasoned just right with a subtle balance of vinegar and sugar.

I requested traditionally brewed soy sauce like Kikkoman, but they sent gluten-free packets instead. Cool to know they offer that option, but luckily, I had my own Kikkoman to enjoy the rolls fully.

Sakura Express nailed the details and flavor—definitely a spot I’d order from again when I’m craving something quick but...

My only complaint is that when my glucose level dropped very low, I asked for a cup so I could get some ice and drink something to raise my sugar. Unfortunately, I never received the cup. As someone living with diabetes, this was not only disappointing but also concerning, since timely support in those moments is very important. I truly hope this can be improved for the safety and care of...

I never really come to this plaza but the pictures online caught my eye. Tried it tonight and was impressed! Got two shrimp hibachis, one w noodles and veggies and one w fried rice and veggies. EVERYTHING was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. Shrimp were huge! I would just want some veggies in my fried rice but other than that 10/10. Maryland sushi roll was also a hit as it has real crab!! Please give this low key spot a try. You won’t be disappointed....
