Several other reviews of pre-included tips, arguing, fishy smells, and grimey surfaces are all 100% false - the one review, especially, I'm inclined to say the patron was upset they didn't receive exemplary service on the weekend before Valentine's Day. ::eye roll:: Don't take it out on the restaurant just because you didn't make reservations somewhere!
We moved here 7 months ago and have been to other Sushi Q locations around MD, so naturally we tried a familiar name when the mood for sushi struck us. When I say this place is fantastic, I'm not exaggerating. The service is always fast and efficient. Even today, I think our server was somewhat new but she still did a wonderful job. Everyone asks how the food looks, how you liked it, and they're attentive with drink refills.
Food comes out fast. The only part of a meal here that takes any time is trying to narrow down what rolls to order. The menu is expansive, with all manner of options: vegetarian/vegan, cooked, sashimi, noodle based dishes, tempura, even party platters. There is something for everyone on this menu.
We have dined in, ordered in restaurant to go style, and called in orders. If you dine in, they provide a simple yummy soup, a crabstick appetizer, and a little slice of dessert cake. If carrying out, they provide a complimentary roll which is above and beyond.
The tap water does have a bit of a chlorinated taste. This may or may not bother you, but it is there. It comes through slightly in the soup and the fountain drinks. Not a deal breaker for me personally.
The atmosphere is good. Clean, a call button on every table, hand sanitizer on every table. Hipster decor? Definitely updated in recent years. They play loud pop music in there. Not a fan but again not a deal breaker, either. Been here some 5-6 times now and even on V-Day weekend (we tried, too, not realizing it was a holiday and it was just too busy), they have never been anything but clean. I've never noticed any type of odor and I have pregnant lady hound dog sense of smell right now. Trust me, I'd notice any kind of off taste or smell from across the street.
The best part of this place is the price. They're always having specials. Even when they're not, the lunch menu is fabulously priced, as are the party platters. For everything you get, though, full price is well worth the cost. Tips have never been gratuity added any time we've come. They do have the suggestions at the bottom of the check but so does every other restaurant out there.
So, to recap: HUGE menu, fast, attentive service, clean, fresh every time. DELICIOUS! Chlorinated water, who cares. Great prices. You will not be...
Read moreMy Fiance and I went out Friday night 2/11/22 to celebrate Valentine's Day early. We selected Sushi Q5 after not being able to get seated at Rock Salt and reading the great reviews on Google.. When we walked in we were disappointed at 2 things. First the smell. The smell of bad fish permeated even the foyer. I am not sure why I persisted at that point. Second, everything seemed dirty. There seemed to be a grime on all surfaces. Even the glass on the vestibule. Looking high you could see smears. When they sat us at first the table for 2 wobbled so much you could not put you hand, arm or anything on either side without having the opposite side hit your guest. 2 plates would not fix this. We were moved to a booth where we ate. Served very quickly. The fountain soda tasted so bad we ordered bottled soda. After our food was delivered we could not get a waitress back with out hailing for the check. Perhaps the worst thing is that I have been sick now for going on 3 days and nights. Started with stomach pain then vomiting and diarrhea. It is now Tuesday.. I know that it is a parasite from the sushi. I will NEVER eat here again and am not sure I will ever eat sushi again after this..... it is absolutely miserable. I hope the health department looks into this place and they begin doing some...
Read moreAs a first time customer I was very disappointed. I’m new to the area and checked out the reviews online. I ordered carry out and it was only a 15 minute wait. Ordered a sushi entree which consisted of miso soup, salad with ginger dressing, and 3 sushi rolls. There was a good list of pre determined rolls that you could choose from which no substitutions were allowed. I ordered the Spicy tuna roll, spicy California roll, and spicy salmon roll. None of them had any taste. The rice was so dry that some of it was hard and crunchy. The seaweed wrap stuck to the roof of my mouth. The salad consisted of 3 small pieces of lettuce, 1 cucumber, and barely a drizzle of ginger dressing. The only thing that was halfway decent was the miso soup. I’m not a sushi expert but I have eaten at numerous sushi restaurants. This was at the bottom of my list. I’ll drive a little further and spend my money where I can get...
