I have always passed by this restaurant, but only just visited for the first time this weekend with some friends. We were NOT expecting the high level of service we received - every single staff member (not just our specific server) was incredibly friendly and attentive. There was a packed house and we still received our food so quickly (within 3-4 mins of ordering each time) and were constantly checked up on by other staff as well, who were happy to bring us extra plates, cutlery, and glasses as needed. Happy hour food, drinks, and prices were great - unique selection of sushi as well as classic appetizers like fried calamari, Brussel sprouts, pork buns. Beautiful plating and exceptional drinks like the lychee martini, ginger Champagne, and the lounge lemonade. We had the absolute pleasure of having a server named Shayna - she was so friendly, funny, and had great recommendations for the food drinks and best seating locations. At the end of the evening, the manager came out to talk to our table and ask us where we were from and how we decided to visit. Truly an exceptionally special experience which made us realize it's been a long time since we've had service like this at any restaurant in the DMV area. Both the food and the service were equally spectacular and we will be back many more times! If you haven't been before, you must go!

I was in the area with one of my Lenders and we decided to try Sushiko for Happy Hour. We were there on a Sunay, so it wasn't very busy. I ordered the lychee martini which was a little on the sweet side, but good. The martini also has a lychee for garnishment. The lychee is a tropical tree native to the Guangdong and Fujian which are provinces of China. The main producer of lychee fruit is China. My Lender ordered lounge lemonade and very good!! Not bad for $5. We also ordered the spicy salmon avacado, the shrimp tempura and the crunchy spicy avocado. They were good but I didn't really like the soy paper that these appetizers are wrapped in. I gave them a 4 star vs 5 star rating because the chairs in the bar area are town up. Which I am surprised considering where they are located. Review provided by Jennifer V-E Johnson

TRULY MADLY DEEPLY the best sushi place in all the DMV. It’s hard to put into words how much my family & I love this place. The sushi honestly is better than Japan - it’s soooo fresh & delicious and it melts in your mouth kind of good. So creative and wonderful. All the staff are truly amazing - sooo kind and lovely. Peter the sushi chef is a wizard and the best of the best. My mouth is watering thinking about the sweet & spicy roll 🥹We’ve been regulars for years and have spent many many beautiful life moments here from birthdays, to anniversaries, to introducing my partner to my family, to new years to Hanukkah & Christmas to time together back from school, to life and death and rebirth and everything in between. This spot has a heart of gold both food wise and sushi wise. Cannot recommend it enough!!!!!!!!!!

Sushiko offers a chance to discover Japanese food beyond sushi and sashimi. Everything we tried was amazing: "Sear it yourself" Wagyu beef with yuzu, koshu and ponzu; Seared lobster with enoki mushroom, sauteed spinach, and creamy ponzu; Yaki tako: Baby octopus 🐙 with yuzu, Asian pear, watermelon radish, and mixed greens; Kabocha: Japanese winter squash tempura with kaeshi: Flash fried panko oysters with Tonkatsu sauce and mustard; and delicious Fresh water eel roll with spicy tuna, masago, kabayaki sauce, avacado, jalapeno, and pickled ginger. I discovered this place through OpenTable website and making the reservation and modification was really easy. I got a confirmation call within an hour after making the reservation. Had an amazing dinner, went on my husband's birthday and the staff and service was really good, they made the occasion really special. Sushiko offers a complimentary Banana Tempura with ice cream for birthdays, and I mentioned that in my special request to come with a candle. Our waitress offered to take pictures of us to remember the celebration. The hostess offered parking validation through a ticket, when I forgot my parking pass in the car. It was an amazing experience. When I go next time, I will try the soft shell crab, shrimp tempura and seared sea scallops. I will also love to experience various courses at 'Kobo' when Chef Peter Thanks comes back from his...

Updated after our recent Omakase: We recently had our first omakase at Sushiko (they recently brought it back). What a joyous favorable treat. We’re no experts in omakase but it felt like a modern take on flavors. The fish were all magnificent, and melted in your mouth. The variety was superb. What stood out the most is the flavor combinations the chef integrated into each dish. Some were extravagant while others subtle and silky. Each one an adventure. Highly recommend it. The only down side is an uncontrollable denominator which is the noise. The restaurant gets busy so the background noise of people talking can inhibit some of the experience of the beauty. We really appreciated that it was a omakase for four. And the chef and wait staff were amazing as they always are at sushiko.

Regular dining: We are frequent consumers, and have enjoyed every dish we have eaten. The fish is fresh. If you get the regular sushi, itMs good quality but what we adore about this place is their creativity and variety of fish. Not all sushi/sashimi is the same, experiment while at this place cause you can. The wait staff have excellent recommendations. Some dishes are better eaten at the restaurant and don’t do well taken out such as the tempura and some of the raw fish appetizers (mostly cause the plating is such a part of the experience). The rolls can be really small for the price but we don’t often...

I stopped in after work and was seated at a table for 4 on the patio. When I arrived the restaurant had just opened and there were no other customers. When I sat down a person who I now know to be the executive chef came out and instructed the host to move me to a table with 2 chairs, closer to the sidewalk and parked cars. I told him I would prefer to stay where I was. He insisted I move saying they would get busy. I insisted I stay. After a few exchanges he walked away. I almost got up to leave but the host was wonderful and gave me a great lesson on sake so I stayed. During my visit one other customer came. He was later joined by his wife but guess what? They were seated at a 4 seater table. When I finished my meal I was heading inside to voice my displeasure with how my visit started when Mr. Tjan met me at the door. As I began to share how the exchange made me feel he cut me off and apologized but said that's the policy of the restaurant. I again tried to explain how the other customers were seated at a 4 seater when he interrupted me again with the same explanation. The exchange really infuriated me even more and I didn't really feel I was given a sincere apology. I went to another store to shop and when I passed the patio after almost 2 hours it was STILL EMPTY. Maybe others are of the same mindset as me. I will...
