Taphouse West Bar and Grille — Restaurant in Maryland

We were there on a Saturday night in February. It was pretty busy, but there was not a wait to be seated. We waited at least 20 minutes before anyone came to the table for a drink order, and even then, it was the waitress for a nearby table. She apologized and said their computers were down, and they were having to write everything down, like they did in the old days. She took our drink and food order all at once since we'd been sitting there so long. The drinks came out pretty quickly, but it took about an hour for my friends to get their food. After an hour and a half, I asked her to check on my food - when she came back, she said they were out of what I had ordered and that had run out an hour before. AN HOUR. And no one bothered to tell me or ask me if I wanted anything else. I watched 3 other people in my party eat while I sat there with nothing - they didn't even bring my salad. She did what she could to make it right, including getting me a different meal and adjusting our bill by a lot - but it wasn't a great experience. The food was okay, and if it weren't for the food not coming out and them not communicating the inventory issue, I would probably go back...but I don't know that I will give them another chance. There are a lot of other good restaurants in OC. Oh, and when she told me I could pick anything off the menu... I asked for a piece of the bumble berry pie first. They didn't have that, either. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the jump, the service was a disaster. We sat there waiting just to be greeted, and 30 minutes passed before we even got WATER — and yes, that’s all we ordered at first. Just water. How do you mess that up?

Then came the food — or should I say the mess. I asked for cheese on my pasta and they straight up scooped out half my food and tossed on what tasted like cheap Mexican cheese on an Italian pasta dish. What a joke.

My friend ordered shrimp and grits — tell me why she got three tiny shrimp. THREE. Just call it “Grits with a side of disappointment.” That’s not a meal. That’s a scam.

When we rightfully asked for things to be taken off the check, the waiter tried to guilt-trip us with some “this is how we learn” nonsense. No — this is how you lose customers. Then the so-called manager — who told us straight up he wasn’t a real manager and was just faking the role — dropped something on the floor and looked confused when I told him to clean it up. Like??? Are you serious?

Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible management. Don’t waste your time or your money here. Go literally...

Complete waste of a good night. Out of all the places to go in ocean city we chose this place. What a huge mistake. Went with a party of 11 people with 2 checks. Our food came out 15mins apart. Then when the second half of the tables food came it was incomplete. Orders completely missing after waiting 1hr 30 mins for the food. Then when telling them the bill should be comped they offer 10% off and when I felt that was unacceptable they chose to call the police. The gm of this establishment was a girl who had a chip on her shoulder and blatantly lied to the police about her staff being cursed at and them feeling unsafe. Unfortunately for her they have a camera in the establishment and the truth always rises to the top. This place is an embarrassment to the other beautiful restaurants in ocean city and when having the choice do not go there. The people that did get their food said it was very bland and the service is horrible. As for the gm if the owner of this place wants to be in business by next summer he might want to fire her asap.
