My friend and I had our latest monthly friendship fun outing and decided to check out Gourmet Girls at their new location📍. My brother and SIL had been celebrating their wedding anniversary breakfast here for the last few years and have been telling us. We need to get their French toast🥖. My friend got their French toast and I got their protein breakfast. The protein breakfast includes three eggs🥚(anyway you want them) with two meat (bacon, scapple, sausage) selections, and fruit salad. For the meat, I decided to choose the sausage and scrapple yes, I said scrapple because I love scrapple. My parents used to make it for us when we were children. For the eggs, I chose Sunny side up🍳. After you order at the Cook counter, you give your name and then go to the front to pay. They bring your food out to you in the dining room. There were so many delights that caught my way to the cashier. There are two food bars. There is plenty of room to eat in. There is a private dining room and there’s so many knickknacks that made me consider other things to purchase. The staff were so friendly and explained the process when our food came out it was picture perfect but the best part was when we tasted it. My friend said the French toast was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The slices were thick and the portion was sizable. She ended up taking some home, my sunny side up eggs were delicious. They were an equal valance of the sun, but not so wet where the oil or egg white gel is sliding off & i’m wondering is this cooked all the way 🤔. The pork sausage links were delicious. I was not able to eat it all. They have a great section where you can pick your Takeaway containers. My friend and I decided to get other food to take home. She got her husband a meal, and I got sesame noodles from the salad bar. Her husband reported his meal was yummy and I enjoyed my noodles the next day. We will be returning here again. Read moreMy husband introduced me to this place some years ago when the store was located in Owings Mills and I loved it. The food was good, the service was on point. We didnt know the store relocated and I happend to see the new store driving by. I was soo excited. My husband and I decided to go for breakfast. Needless to say, I was soooo disappointed this time. While being seated, the server dropped the cleaning cloth on the floor, picked it and proceeded to clean our table off. Never do that, especially in front of a customer. I should have left right after that. I ordered the "Eat Your Veggies" omlette and asked for a substitution for one thing and was told my substitution could be fruit (the polite way of telling me, "no") I probably needed the fruit more so I agreed. Our food came out pretty quickly but it was not quite what we asked for.
Looking back, the person who took my order thought we asked for egg white omlettes but we didn't. I enjoy the whole egg. I think I was given the "Waist Watcher" omlette, but I didn't order that. I was hungry, wanted a good meal and was NOT thinking about my waist. The suggested fruit was mostly honey dew and cantaloupe, which I hate. The fruit was unsweet. I still did not utter one complaint to this establishment. My husband took one bite of his fruit and that was the last. About 10 mins later we hear our name being called and see the server with two plates of food that looked to be way more appetizing than what we received and was actual what we ordered...the "Eat Your Veggies" omlette...but we didn't realize it then. We told the server that we already received our food and those plates had way more food.
My advice to this establishment, if your customer asked for a substitution, just say, "No". Confirm the order with the custimer so that eliminates the confusion. Dont give the customer what the did NOT ask for then turn around and give them what they asked for. It know that it was a mistake and we neglected to send our order back to get what we paid for. This past experience was ruined for me. Oh well, back to IHop...
Read moreMy brother and I had lunch at Gourmet Girls. Gourmet Girls, in Pikesville, is both a convenience store and a restaurant. You buy your food in the convenience store, and you can take it into the dining area to eat it if you wish. There's a soft drink dispenser, some condiments, and flatware available in the dining area. When we were there, there were also a few tables of women playing Mah Jong.
In addition to packaged foods, including soups, there's a salad bar and an area where an employee can dispense, and heat up hot foods. These are sold by the pound. I selected eggplant parmesan, one of my favorite foods, and broccoli salad. The young lady behind the counter heated up the eggplant parm for me. I was a bit leery since the way they prepare eggplant parm at Gourmet Girls does not involve as much melted cheese or tomato sauce as I'm accustomed to with this dish. But it turned out to be delicious, as was the broccoli salad.
There's free parking out front. Interestingly, it looks like there are a large number of parking slots in front of Gourmet Girls that are reserved for the dry cleaner next door. This doesn't make any sense since no one hangs our at a dry cleaner waiting for their laundry to be done. It turns out that the spaces are also reserved for Gourmet Girls, but the print of the words, "Gourmet Girls," is so light that you can't read it until you're standing on the sidewalk right nest to the sign. I recommend that the manager should use a black permanent marker to make the words, "Gourmet Girls" more legible from inside the car.
I recommend Gourmet Girls...
