I placed an online order this past Sunday from Ta’am Thai in Pikesville totaling $73.14. This was my first time ordering from them, based on the positive reviews, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.
I ordered the Thai hot wings, spicy tuna roll, drunken noodles, and the sushi bomb. The spicy tuna roll was the only item that tasted fresh and met expectations. The wings tasted like old, refried leftovers, the drunken noodles were dry and completely lacking flavor, and the sushi bomb was nearly empty inside, missing the generous filling the description implied.
I called immediately after picking up and tasting the food to express my dissatisfaction. I was told that a refund would require manager approval, and that someone would get back to me. On Monday, they offered to remake the meal, which I declined. After all, I had already tried three different dishes and was not interested in giving it another shot.
By Tuesday, I followed up again and was told the manager would only approve a credit toward a future order—not a refund—even though the food was picked up, not delivered. That reasoning felt dismissive and irrelevant. I explained again that I had no desire to order again due to my poor first experience, and was told I would receive another callback.
I eventually spoke with the manager, who said she would call me back within 30 minutes—but she never did. I had to call again on Wednesday, only to be told that no refund would be provided. Throughout this process, I made multiple calls over three days and felt like I was doing all the follow-up, while the restaurant showed very little initiative or concern for resolving the issue.
Overall, I’m frustrated both with the poor food quality and the lack of accountability from the business. It shouldn’t be this difficult to get fair customer service when something goes wrong, especially on a first-time order. I won’t...
Read moreI had a pretty bad experience here a while ago. I was meeting some friends here checking it out for the first time. Ambiance was nice and most of the staff was pleasant but when I went to the bar to buy a drink an employee came to ask how things were. I ordered four beers from the bar, he asked me why I was present I mentioned I wanted to check the place out with some of my friends and he rolled his eyes and asked sarcastically if I was only buying drinks or if I’d be splurging on food as well. I had been there for a total of 5 minutes and I found this line of questioning to be extremely inappropriate. I had been planning on buying food for everyone but after the disgusting behavior displayed by this “manager” (i think someone may have referred to him by mark but I’m not sure) I can’t support them with my business. I wasn’t going to post this review but recently I have heard similar complaints from two or three people in my community.
I will say other than this everything did...
Read moreThe food is good, the staff is friendly, and in good weather there is a nice outdoor seating area. There are two aspects of this restaurant, though, that diners should be aware of in advance. First, you will be asked to select white or fried rice, and told (if you ask) that the meals come with rice, only to discover that you have been charged an additional amount for rice. And, second, you will be automatically charged an 18% gratuity on non-carry out orders without being informed of this in advance, and then presented with a bill that includes space for a tip and suggested tipping amounts, implying to those who fail to look carefully that the total listed on the bill did not already include a tip. I know that the restaurant business has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic and that restaurants are struggling to survive in any way that they can, but these two things tend to border...
