Since this location opened earlier this week, we have visited three times. We first visited on Tuesday (the day after opening) for lunch, and we were very pleased with the experience. The staff were attentive and the food was great. We again visited with friends on Friday for dinner. It was understandably busier than our previous experience, but we waited about 15 minutes for our waiter to come by and say he would be back to take our drink and food orders. We then asked a nearby manager to intervene, and she was wonderful in helping to ensure our food and drink orders were placed and arrived promptly on time. She essentially took over our table from the waiter we were supposed to have. We observed a nearby table who had continued with our waiter, and although they were were seated and placed their orders before us, they received their meals 15 minutes after we received ours. We would have likely suffered the same fate if not for the kind manager helping to attend to our table. Our third experience was Sunday night, where we again waited 10 minutes without any acknowledgement after being seated. A waiter then came by to drop off two napkins and informed us that she was unsure if she would be our waiter. 5 minutes later she came by and informed us she would be our waiter, at which point she took our orders. It was clear during this period there was confusion with which waiters had responsibility for which tables. Once we confirmed our waiter, the experience was fine. As we attempted to pay, we asked to use $10 of Turtle Bucks that we had received as a courtesy from the previous visit. After taking the Turtle Bucks card, our waiter returned and informed us we wouldn’t be able to use it but we could use it next time. We asked why, and she said she just wasn’t able without any further explanation. We will give this location another chance, but there are a lot visible growing pains with the staff and we hope the...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews but I felt this one in my heart. I know that it’s busy on a Monday during an NFL Wild Card game, I get it. But poor planning on the part of the manager and our bar tender/server has made this experience one that I will never forget. We were greeted 20min AFTER we sat ourselves in the bar area and our server got with us about 15min after that. We came out to celebrate our co-worker’s birthday. 3 WHOLE HOURS and we got 1 appetizer and 2 rounds of drinks. The service was so slow, that I personally went up to the bar and was told that because I was already sitting at a table (in the bar area) that I didn’t have the option to order straight from the bar itself. Okay, fine. Our server didn’t return for about 30-45min while I watched other patrons from the tables around us go up to the bar and receive their drinks on the spot while waiting for the same server. Once we were ready to leave I had to get up again and request the bill to be checked out. I handed the cash to our server and was asked if I needed change back. I said no change back was needed and before I could consult with my partner about tipping the server says “So, you don’t tip!?” I first had to compose myself and then I explained that I normally do tip (and very well) but the service was extremely bad and slow and the fact that I had to come to them to ask for the check made matters worse. They then ask “You got everything you needed tonight though, right?” (The answer was absolutely not) UNACCEPTABLE! I will NEVER go back to this Greene Turtle (or any other one) again. However, great job on the crab dip chefs! I wish we could have ordered more but…never got...
Read moreIn town visiting my family. I would not consider this a sports bar. It’s a restaurant with mediocre service at the bar with televisions on sports channels while blasting good music through the speakers. The crab soup was watery and bland. The “jumbo” wings were good but definitively not jumbo. The beer was not cold from the tap. I asked for a bottle and the bartender poured my beer with a half glass of head. The next time I just asked for the bottle and poured it myself. One bartender named Felicia was great. The other was just having a bad day because I think something else was going on with the managers not supporting as she was BUSY!!! The bartenders did what they could when they could to keep up. The managers there didn’t seem to have a pulse on what any of the bartenders needed…like a bar back to run dirty dishes back to the kitchen and restock the bartenders’ mixers. Two came out when they were busy but didn’t help the bartenders…well one swept the floor, the other just walked around pretending to be busy. Great place, but they needed to support their bartenders better so they could have tended to us who were sitting at the bar. Oh yeah, during Bowl season, put the Bowl game on at least ONE major big screen, not the TVs on the side. You said you were a SPORTS BAR.
I can’t give the staff less than 4 stars because I believe my service was impacted by the managers, not the staff. I’d give the staff a 5 for trying. The staff can only do as well as the managers who I would give a strong “1” rating. Managers…TAKE CARE OF YOUR PEOPLE or you won’t keep them long!!!! Trust me, I kinda know a little bit about...
