Vace Italian Delicatessen — Restaurant in Maryland

Vace's is the most authentic Italian grocer in the area, so naturally it's a place that people are always bustling in and out of. They also carry a few pick-up Lunch and Dinner options, which are always satisfying. Being an Italian myself, I've learned to rely here for some really good products.

Pros: They really have Italian food, with a lot of things imported from Italy. A really solid drink selection including all the flavors of San Pellegrino. The pizza is great, hot or cold. Nice and saucy. And it's still pretty cheap for how big they are! Parking right outside the front door. The meat selection is tasty and numerous. Tasty Italian dessert foods.

Cons: Kind of a ratty looking store. They haven't done anything to update the pace, and it's not in the nicest location. No seating (indoor or outdoor), but there is a little courtyard nearby. Check your cans! I've had multiple instances where boxes and cans have their seals broken.

All and all, the food is really good, so there's no way that I can complain about the presentation...

Got an Italian sub there today and a slice of cheese pizza. Without a doubt, worst Italian sub I’ve ever had in my life. The bread, meat and cheese were unremarkable - lesser quality than you can find at any supermarket. What was worse, whoever made the sandwich has never made an Italian sub before, or didn’t know how to make one, or just didn’t care. Poured olive oil over the whole sandwich. I mean, the whole thing was drenched - olive oil everywhere. And it sure wasn’t Italian dressing - no vinegar, spices. The slice of pizza was awful. Seriously. Can get a better slice of pizza at Whole Foods! Watery tomato sauce, virtually no cheese. This used to be a good Italian place years ago. I don’t think anybody Italian works there...

Everything about this place is the best and has been for 30+ years. Probably the best slice in the area. I come here for authentic parmigiano reggiano (the little dots), sweet French butter, fresh pasta, olive oil, imported prosciutto, and all the other delicious and high quality meats and cheeses. Everything in this store is high quality. You really can't go wrong. Frozen food is good but I haven't tried everything. Great spot if you want to buy your own pizza dough and make your own pizza. Owners and staff are perfect. I love coming here and make special trips here as coming to Vace makes me happy. I love my Vace trips, have for the past couple decades, and I look forward to all the future Vace trips. ...
