Bottom Line: All of the sales they advertise should have a disclaimer that says, "on the few suits in your size we may carry in our store that are part of this sale - most suits you look at will be more money."
Detail: I had only walked into this store once in the past 7 years. At that time I felt like the promotional sale was a total bait and switch. However, as we needed some new clothes, and were trying to figure out how to stretch the budget my wife and I decided to try again.
They advertised for August a "2 for $299 All Executive and Joseph Slim Fit Suits" and so we went in and very clearly stated that we wanted to look at the Slim Fits sale suits. The man who helped us took us to the racks and we started trying jackets on. We found a few that we liked and also a sport coat. I asked if I could match up the sport coat with a suit for the $299 deal but was told that it was just 2 suits. However, we liked the sport coat so we decided to add it in. We also settled on 2 suits. Both my wife and I were under the impression that the sport coat was going to be $150 and the 2 suits we had selected were going to be part of the $299 sale. We asked to put them on hold for one day so we could think it over. We also were honest that since we had just started shopping that day, we wanted to look a few other places first. He seemed comfortable with that.
As we drove away, we discussed how this had been much different than our other experience. I came in the next day to pick them up and pay for them. I wanted to give the man who helped me the sale, so I waited until he was in and I was heading home from a work appointment. I was surprise when he rang them up and then said, "OK, $868." When asked how 2 for $299 plus a $150 sport coat added up to $868 I was told that "I told you that these suits were not part of that deal. I was clear on that."
As I think back on it and review the portions of the conversation, I think I remember him saying that some of the suits I was looking at was a "nicer suit material" at one point. I guess that was his way of saying, "these are not part of this deal that we advertised." However, I find it odd that both my wife and I felt "clear" on the fact that the suits we were buying were part of this deal yet we were around $400 off of what "clear" meant. I distinctly remember confirming that with him at one point.
I now understand that this is the business model. They get you into the store with a "sale" which probably only applies to 3 suits in your size if you are lucky. I also understand that I probably am dreaming if I want to get 2 suits for $299 somewhere, but I think I prefer to go to a place where I can look at a rack of suits for a certain price point and not have to do mental gymnastics as to what they really are going to sell...
Read moreJay Webster and Junior Sarr are AMAZING at what they do. Do yourself a favor and visit the Jos. A Bank, Bethesda, MD location. I originally came for a tuxedo in 2024 for my wedding, my experience was phenomenal specifically because of them. My experience was so good, I have returned multiple times because of the trust they developed with each successful purchase. I purchased a dinner jacket today and this review was long overdue. Jay Webster was the primary person I worked with and Junior followed up making sure I was taken care of at the same level when Jay had days off. I had an absolutely phenomenal experience working with Jay and Junior. From the moment I walked in, they made me feel like more than just a customer — they treated me like a VIP. Guests at my wedding thought I had a custom tuxedo, it was more than I could have asked for.
Jay and Junior went above and beyond in helping me select the perfect tuxedo. Their knowledge of formal wear is unmatched, and they didn’t just recommend pieces — they educated me on every detail, from fabric types to fit, cut, and current style trends. I walked away with a much deeper understanding of formal wear, which made the entire process even more enjoyable.
They curated a complete look that was perfectly tailored to my style and the occasion. The attention to detail in the alterations was exceptional — everything fit like it was made just for me (because, thanks to them, it was). Their eye for coordination — from lapels and shirt studs to bow ties and pocket squares — brought the entire ensemble together flawlessly.
Jay and Junior’s professionalism, style expertise, and genuine passion for what they do made this a standout experience. I can’t recommend them highly enough. If you’re looking to elevate your formal look and learn a thing or two along the way, these are the...
Read moreStore manager (?) was extremely rude, unhelpful, and condescending. I walk in and say that "I need to get fitted for a wedding party, here is the party information" as they had registered it with jos a banks. He looks up the information and goes to get the correct attire, asking what size I am. I say, "I don't know, its been a while so that's why I'm interested in getting fitted here". He says while rolling his eyes "who buys your clothes? Your wife? You should really know your size, its important" SIR, I AM HERE TO GET FITTED BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW MY MEASUREMENTS. I kept my composure after this insulting exchange. The entire time, as new customers walk in, he is shouting at them that "the tailor is on vacation" and that they should take their business somewhere else. He finally took some loose measurements and returned with the pants and shirt I needed. He then proceeds to walk me straight to the register to pay, without getting my pants length measurements. I tell him that I need to get them tailored here and that the wedding isn't for a few more months and I can wait for the tailor. Note that this was consistent with my original ask when I walked in: to get everything done for the wedding party all in one place. It took some persistence and convincing but he finally reluctantly let me go try the pants on and marked them for my length. Still would not let me try the shirt on. Got home and what do you know--shirt was extremely baggy and loose. Now I am running back and forth to another location to try to get the correct size shirt. What a joke of an experience. I could have done this man's job better, and I don't even know what I'm doing. I am a very easy-going person, but man did this guy test my patience. I was practically begging him to just do his job...
