As a dietitian, Iâm always on the lookout for restaurants that balance delicious flavor with wholesome, nourishing ingredientsâand True Food Kitchen in Bethesda completely exceeded my expectations!
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere and the clear emphasis on health-forward food without compromising on taste. I started with one of their fresh-pressed juices, which was the perfect kickstart to the mealârefreshing, vibrant, and packed with nutrients. I also had their coffee, and let me tell you, it was smooth, bold, and beautifully brewedâa pleasant surprise for a place known primarily for food.
Now, letâs talk food. Their kale salad is hands-down the best Iâve ever had. Itâs perfectly massaged, lightly dressed, and bursting with flavor and texture. Itâs the kind of dish that makes you crave greens! The cauliflower dish is another standoutâitâs got the ideal balance of sweet and spicy, with a satisfying crunch that makes it a must-order every time.
For drinks, the watermelon lemonade is absolutely perfectâjust the right amount of sweetness and tang, incredibly refreshing, and a great option for both adults and kids.
And dessert? Donât leave without trying the mango tart. Itâs light, tropical, and not overly sweetâjust a beautiful finish to the meal.
What I especially appreciate as a dietitian and a parent is how family-friendly this location is. The kidsâ options are thoughtfully crafted, making it easy for the whole family to enjoy a meal together without compromising on nutrition or taste.
True Food Kitchen in Bethesda has truly mastered the art of combining wellness with culinary delight. Itâs now a staple on my list of go-to spots, whether Iâm grabbing lunch solo or dining out with my family. Highly...
Read moreThis review pertains to the manager John Dunn at the Bestheda location. The service team did their best to accommodate us. The manger, however was very disrespectful and lacked common courtesy, let alone the level of service I would expect from someone in management. My dining partner shared with our waitress that our food took an unexpectedly longer time to arrive (approximately 40 mins) when the restaurant was not very busy (yes they could have been staffed for a smaller crowd). The waitress acknowledged our wait and told us she would send the manager. John Dunn came to our table and provided a condiment and left. He did not introduce himself as the manger. When our waitress inquired we told her what happened and John returned. This time he listened to our concern and proceeded to overtalk us and told us he needed to check the time and didn't think it was late. He pulled the ticket and came back to confirm we must have been mistaken and asked what we wanted, did we want our meal comped or something. We explained we were sharing our concern and up to him as to how he wanted to resolve. His tone and demeanor were unprofessional and disrespectful. We did not raise our voices, appear upset. He walked away. Our entrees were substrated from our total and we tipped the service team 50% for their assistance. I also noticed my Open Table reservation was cancelled by the restaurant after we spoke to the manager. That seems odd... so there is no record of my stay and I'm unable to provide a review of my experience. This was very disappointing and I will not return. My expectation is that the manager would have acknowledged our concern and offered to...
Read moreWow. Lots of stuff went wrong on our visit. First of all they were out of the grass fed beef option for their bowls, and they did not tell us until after they took our order. They offered us to substitute a different type of beef but at a significantly increased price. My beautiful and elegant dinner partner argued that if they had to substitute due to their own supply problem they shouldn't have tried to upcharge us. We declined that option. We ordered the forbidden poke bowl and when it came out the fish had gone bad. It was gray instead of bright red like tuna should be and it smelled and tasted off. They split it up for us but number one it was still too spicy and number to they didn't bring the jalapeùos. The spinach onion pizza was fine, it certainly was nothing to write home about but at least there was nothing wrong with it.
Also, to compound things, bizarrely, at no point did they offer us any utensils, we had to ask. They did not bring us plates for the pizza which we told them ahead of time we were planning on sharing, and they never brought us napkins! I had to get up and go steal a napkin off of another table!
Even though they provide cloth napkins, when we were finally able to ask for napkins they slapped down a stack of paper towels like from the bathroom. ...
