Such a disappointment anymore! My oldest sister who grew up in Marysville, has lived in Oregon for about 20 years now. She has always gotten divinity cookies on her trips up here. (We, her family, still live here in town) unfortunately, the past year, year and a half, the bakery has failed her every single time. It wasn't until March 16th of this year that I decided to get smart and just put in an order for the cookies so they're ready for my sister's visit the following month on April 21st! A MONTHS NOTICE!!! This bakery REALLY sucked when Mia called me, THREE DAYS before i was to pick up my order, to inform me that she was not able to fill my order...when I asked her why she responses with, "because I'm out of walnuts and i dont plan to go het some anytime soon." Wow!! She said she had just seen the order but i find that an excuse...not even a good one. You failed tour customers Dutch bakery ...and we will never be back for your...
Read moreThis bakery has been here forever and either it's suffering from "Been here so long we're tired of the whole thing" or they just don't want customers. I've never received friendly service. The pastries are okay, nothing special. I'd rather have a small cupcake that tastes amazing, than a giant over the top cupcake that tastes like a frosted costco muffin (well--not as good as a frosted costco muffin). I've never been greeted upon walking in. I've always had to walk up to the counter where a bored woman would wait on me as if I was interrupting her day.
My last trip for a special treat for my husband's birthday was my last trip, period. I wanted to know about some items, but the lady at the counter looked so put-out by my being in the cafe that I just took one of the giant cupcakes to split and left never to return. I would much rather support a small local business than go to a chain store, but I hate to be a bother so I won't...
Read moreWe've lived in Marysville for 8 years but just recently got around to visiting this bakery. Just had our 3rd visit this last weekend but it'll sadly likely be our last. Their donuts and sourdough bread are indeed delicious but we just can't get past the gloomy atmosphere and less than friendly service. Both ladies seem like they're over it and just don't want to be there. Like other reviews have said, we did feel like we were bothering them. Older one makes snarky passive aggressive comments to the other in front of customers as well, which is tacky. The shop is very dark and a little eery, almost as if you can feel the "ghosts" of what once was a lively bakery. To top it off, our 6 donuts and one beignet cost over $30.. which was more than a full dozen from Despi Delite down the street in Everett. Guess we'll be returning to Despi because this place just isn't worth the high...
