This tiny humble bistro secretly houses some of the best Indian cooking and food you will ever get to experience. I eat A LOT of Indian food out and there’s an understanding of what “restaurant Indian” cuisine is (which I still love), but what one gets here has a true homemade touch to it.
My Kolorful Kitchen rotates 2 unique dishes a day on a dynamically creative week-to-week schedule. 1 veg and 1 meat item, with additional bulk specialties for pre-order. While this simplicity streamlines the backend efforts of a remarkably overachieving 2-3 person staff, it also allows for uniqueness, phenomenal flavors, never-ending discovery, and as the name hints at, the most exquisite of colors.
Good luck trying to find dishes like chicken tikka burgers, gobi Manchurian on scallion fried rice, or a crowd favorite, the smoked butter chicken (pictured). You simply will not and cannot. Aparna Thukral is the master mind/chef behind this culinary gem. Beyond her wonderful talents she is incredibly sweet and personable to engage with, always visible, and is simply a gifted resident with a passion for cooking who realized a supreme vision. 5 stars for My Kolorful Kitchen. Absolutely...
Read moreI believe this is my first review I've ever written. I was working from home this week because my wife is traveling. I decided to try some place new and this has been on my list for a while now, along with a few other new Mason restaurants.
What a hit - I got the Chicken Punjabi...I don't mean to sound out of touch but I don't even know what Chicken Punjabi is! Still, it was the best Indian food i've ever had! I am used to getting Chicken Tikka Masala & butter chicken like a typical American...but never again! I will be back to expand my palate!
I reached out to 2 random people other than my wife today to tell them about this incredible Indian food I had.
They make 2 dishes minimum at the start of every day; 1 meat dish and 1 veggie dish. They post their menu for the week at the start of the week on their website and facebook page which made it easy to plan which day i'd grab lunch. I highly recommend it - I can't wait to show up for dinner!
*I almost forgot...the most pleasant part of my experience was how quick the service was. It took me longer to turn across traffic on 42 and park my car than it did to get inside, order, pay, and walk back...
Read moreOk, this is serious. This is my favorite restaurant. The food is so well seasoned. The flavors are perfect. It is an explosion of Indian flavors every time! The menu changes daily she posts it on Monday on her Facebook page, My Kolorful Kitchen. There are always 2 options, a chicken dish and a vegetarian dish. Both are awesome! I usually favor the vegetarian slightly, but I almost always have a split dish, half and half. There are some dishes that are not gluten free, but if you ask if it has bread or wheat flour in it, she will tell you. There is usually an appetizer option (sometimes 2!) and a dessert option. I prefer to go earlier than later as sometimes she runs out of food closer to closing time if it is busier than expected, but not always. If you have not tried this place for lunch, you are missing out! She also has an extensive pre-order menu on her website where you can order the day before for pickup. There are plenty of options!!! Try it. You’ll love it!
(You must know that there is no naan. But you don’t need...
