If you have food allergies or eat gluten free this is NOT the place for you. Last night my family ordered out from here and I ordered the gluten free chicken alla vodka. Several bites into the gluten free penne pasta I noticed several small ditalini pastas. I immediately stopped eating and further investigation reveals there were over a dozen ditalini pastas in the dish. We called up the store and the manager told us to stop eating it and that they only had gluten free penne and no other shape of pasta. We had them deliver another one and it arrived shortly after. Upon inspection of the new order, I find the same issue! Ditalini everywhere!! The problem is that nobody took the time to boil new water in a new pot to prevent the cross contamination. I have had celiac disease for more than half my life and this is not the first time this has happened to me or to other gfree people. It is common knowledge that restaurants keeps pots of water always boiling on the stove and reuse the water for multiple pasta dishes to cook in. I understand that it is easier to do this but taking the extra time could save someone their life in certain food allergy situations. Food allergies are no joke! I’ve spent the entire day sick to my stomach and in pain because of this careless mistake (which happened twice!). I have eaten here before without issue so I am very disappointed. I may be wrong but I was under the impression that Esposito’s took pride in their ability to be allergy friendly because I believe there is a family member of the owner or manager that is gluten free. I will unfortunately not be eating here again for my own safety. I’d like to clarify that this review only reflects my experience regarding the gluten free selections and acts as a warning to other gfree people. My family members have loved Esposito’s pizza for years and will likely continue to order regular menu items.

They have two locations: one in Matawan and the other is in Manasquan. While I have visited both, the one I’ll be writing a review on is the one in Matawan. Fun fact about me, I absolutely adore pizza. In fact, when I was pregnant, pizza was one of my top cravings. I love going to different pizzerias and trying their pies. I’ve learned from one of my fellow Yelpers to always order a margarita slice before ordering any other specialty pie to truly be able to taste the sauce first. Esposito's offer special menu items at all different price points for each day of the week. This casual eatery is more than just a pizzeria but their claim to fame is their sesame seed crust pizza. I’ve tried their sesame seed margarita slices, eggplant parmesan sandwich, various salads, calamari and most recently, vegetable combo. All are very good but not excellent. I love the crust but it’s the sauce that prevents me from giving it the 5 stars. I want to taste a burst of acidic tomato flavor from the sauce but instead, I find the sauce a tad bland. I am disappointed but the crust more than makes up for it. Their crust is slightly crispy on the outside and yet is soft and pliable as you handle it. It’s on the drier side and not overly chewy. Whenever I frequent the establishment, I always see them making the pies from scratch. This place is a neighborhood pizzeria where they always offer a friendly smile and good service to everyone that stops in. They honor most credit cards and during the pandemic, they offer take out.

I've come to this restaurant a few times. Mostly during lunch hours to try lunch specials. I love their sesame crust pesto pizza. It's tastes great and looks really beautiful and colorful. I've tried eggplant sandwich (can't remember the menu name), garlic knots, plain pizza, arugula strawberry salad with caramelized pecans. Whatever I've tried, I liked them all. In the other hand, my friends tried chicken wrap or other chicken dish, they didn't like both times they ordered it. They said chicken was dry and didn't taste very good. They didn't even eat, just took 2-3 bites. I was just happy I don't meatbat Non Halal places. The restaurant itself is nice, clean, and very bright. They girls who serve always smile and are friendly. Matawan, New Jersey

Wow what a disappointment in this place the food is great but the service is terrible. I went in to get lunch as I was waiting for my food I asked what the pinwheels were he said they're 6 to buy them, I said I never tried them I said may I try one and I'll pay for it he looked me straight in my face with a rude way and said no I said even if I pay for it he said no I said so you're not going to let me try something to see if I liked it before I have to buy six of them he says nope. I was so annoyed and embarrassed that I will never go back to that place again whoever this man is should not have a job there and even if he's a manager or boss he should be ashamed of himself I've never been treated that rude in my Life by anybody in any type of restaurant. I'm very disappointed very. I never had anyone be that rude to me...
