We just left this awfully staffed restaurant. We were asked for driver's license and a credit card with the same name on it, we give it to security guy and he looked at it for maybe 2 minutes and we were denied entrance, when we asked why the security guard said "because it doesnt feel right and I say so" we said that makes no sense, he says "also because of your out of state licence and next time I'm just going to take your license ". We asked to speak with a manager and he said no and you better leave now before I take your license now". We said f u and left, he said it back. But we were really upset by this, so I asked my boyfriend to call and asked for the manager to come out and speak to us, we did and we were transferred to Justin, whom said okay, but I will only talk to one person, he came out and didn't ask us anything, so my boyfriend asked him why does an out of state licence means we cannot be served and my boyfriend told him that he grew up in this area and this is unbelievable, the manager just looks at us, and says anything, so I asked, Is it because I dont look like the people in your restaurant? (I'm afro-latina)so now he finally says something and comes up to my face and says screaming are you really going to say that? That got my boyfriend upset so my boyfriend(he is usually the calmed one, like too calmed) tells him that is the only thing that makes sense, and back off, at this point he tells my boyfriend "come at me, fat boy". My boyfriend is responding in that same demeanor, I was stopping my boyfriend from engaging, I told him some choice words, so does my boyfriend and the manager continues coming for us as I make my boyfriend walk away, as I don't think it is worth it, I really could not think of anything else as to why were denied, we showed driver's license and a credit card, this was unbelievable and we could not believe this "manager", at this point the manager is coming for my boyfriend and continues to use foul language. We walked away. We hope that someone from the ownership sees this and deals with this bad staff, the security guard and manager and reaches out and we are open to talking this further because this was a very bad experience and it is overall, just is really awful to treat people like this. I hope I'm wrong and we were not denied entrance because I'm a person of color. But, just to be safe, if you are minority or person of color and want to avoid being denied entrance to this "fine" restaurant take your business elsewhere and avoid...
Read moreMother's day set menu, not a problem. Seated in the bar, not a problem. Dinner choices, varied and interesting. Plenty of staff and restaurant not crowded. May take a bit trying to get the attention of 4 or more servers/wait staff to get silverware to eat with. Steak ordered rare, overdone. Baked potato wrapped in foil and not fully cooked. Salads sad looking with weak and sparse vinaigrette, dropped off by a kitchen server in a hurry and bad judge of how to put the plates ON the table before letting go. Salmon slightly overcooked, asparagus too mature/large and fibrous to eat, brandy sauce without any hint of brandy and weak tasting with mashed potatoes splattered onto one side of the plate (although tasted good the skin that formed over them told me my plate must have sat for at least 5-10 minutes before being served). Apple pie was ok and chocolate cake was good but the condensation on the icing and the separation of the can squirted whipped cream was a dead giveaway dessert was precut and plated and just waiting for someone to order them. I didn't expect a michelin star dinner, but I did expect a bit more for almost $100. Our waitress seemed to be nice but more interested in her friends who were seated at the bar. She did do a quick check on us three times, and besides half the wait staff seemed to be preoccupied with getting ready for the Stanley Cup playoff patrons due to be coming into the bar in a few hours anyway. Oh and check your receipt if you do decide to try here... I'm guessing they add gratuity to your bill without the benefit of notifying you beforehand. They did on our bill and there were only two of us. We caught it as I was wondering if they charged over fifteen dollars for a jack and coke (that was the best part of dinner btw). Peter's Fishery is only 2 minutes away and they NEVER fail in quality, taste,...
Read moreMy friends and I went out for a late dinner on Friday night. After sitting at the table for 15 minutes a waitress finally shows up. She was an old woman and she couldn’t had made it more obvious that she didn’t care to work that night. My friends and I had ordered some drinks and 15 minutes later the waitress finally brings them back. Then another 20 minutes later she comes back to take our order. We had another friend meeting us there and I order a personal pie for her and one for myself. After ordering the waitress goes “umm you’re gonna eat two personal pies for yourself?” Like first off what if I was going too? Who are you to judge and second don’t question a customer. So then my friend ordered and ask if there was “queso dip” and the waitress goes “yeah we have it that’s what they use on nachos nowawdays. So Atleast a 30 minutes goes by and we all got our food and the “queso” dip was just melted regular nacho dip. So we tried to get or waitresses attention and she didn’t come back for another half hour. So we had to bother a waiter to ask for napkins and more water. Then the waitress finally shows up and my friend explained to her it was not actually queso dip it’s just nacho cheese. So ofcourse the waitress agrues with my friend and then we’re lile whatever just give us the checks please. So after waiting for the checks then when we were ready to pay she goes “ok I’ll be right back” but ANOTHER TWENTY MINUTES GOES BY and she finally takes our cards. I wish I could have gave her NO TIP she did not deserve $1 from any of us. But ofcourse gratuity for included. I’ll go back to MJS in the future but I will make sure she is NEVER my...
