It’s my mama’s birthday month, so we wanted to start it off right with breakfast at Auntie’s Kitchen. Then of course a little shopping afterwards at Whaler’s Village since we’re in the area. Although this might surprise you but this was actually our first time to Auntie’s Kitchen too. So I really had no idea on what to expect.
The view however, Auntie’s Kitchen is located in a relaxed, poolside setting at the Westin Resort. The open air restaurant view of the beautiful landscaping is definitely giving off vacation vibes. I love being surrounded by greenery. Seeing the birds sun bathing, dragonflies hovering around the water fall & the fish just chasing each other around. It’s such a relaxing & welcoming setting. Even all the diners seem to be enjoying themselves. As their waiter makes his way around the restaurant checking on each table. Even the guests passing by either just finished eating or heading to grab a bite are in a friendly mood. Smiling & greeting other guests as they pass by.
As we casually make are way over to the hostess stand, without a reservation, we were seated immediately. The restaurant was only about 1/3 packed when we arrived for breakfast. So I definitely appreciated the VIP treatment when getting seated at an instagram worthy table. Although all the tables have a nice view of the grounds.
With too many delicious choices to choose from the Avocado Toast won my pick. With smashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, cotija cheese, radish, egg, micro greens & chili oil. It sounded delicious, when it arrived it was almost too pretty to eat. Except I was so ready to eat I practically stuffed my face. I was just so happy & if you’re an avocado toast fan too. You’ll get to experience that same happiness high after your first bite too.
My mama ordered the Eggs Benedict, it’s one of her favorite things to order & she absolutely loved the breakfast potatoes.
Also shoutout to the guys working for making our breakfast outing an enjoyable one. Great customer service & positive encounters like these makes going out fun.
I’ll definitely need to come back again to try a few more items off the breakfast & lunch menu.
Until next...
Read moreThe 1 star is pretty much entirely for the food. We've eaten here several times over the last few years and we keep seeming to learn the same lesson that the service here is just consistently abysmal.
When we arrived early for dinner this last time around, the restaurant was almost empty. In spite of that, when I asked if one of the half dozen TVs could be set to the NBA game, the hostess was visibly irritated and flustered asking impatiently "What game, what network? I don't even know if we have it". I politely specified the network and about 15 mins later, they finally changed the channel.
Our server was meh. When we asked for crayons for the kids menu, he immediately said "That's going to be tough, they're usually not around". And they weren't. Why hand out a kids menu (that has a picture to be colored on) if you're not going to even make sure you have some crayons, every child will be immediately disappointed. Are they that difficult to procure?
My wife's napkin was visibly dirty and it took a minute to flag them down to get it replaced.
Our food was good so whoever is cooking deserves some kudos but the front of the restaurant staff, they could use some training on customer first service and operations. For a meal totaling $150 for 2 adults and a child, this is just incredibly poor service.
In contrast, the service at the neighboring Nanea's Inu Pool Bar and Mauka Mokai restaurants has been consistently great. I struggle to understand why there is such a disparity between two adjacent Westin properties.
When you're paying almost $2,000 a night for a resort, you shouldn't get service that's sub par for a Denny's. And that may be an...

When we arrived early for dinner to pretty empty restaurant, the hostess was visibly annoyed when we asked if one of the TVs could be switched to a Christmas NBA game.
Our server was not great. When we asked for crayons for the kids menu, he immediately said "That's going to be tough, they're usually not around". There weren’t any available. How is this ok at a hotel that caters to families? Not a great way ti make kids feel valued and welcome.
My napkin was visibly dirty and it took a minute to get another one. As a public health nurse, I was really bothered by this. Cleanliness is huge.
Our food was good, but the service killed the five sadly. They would greatly benefit from customer service classes given our experience and others noted in the reviews. $150 for this dining experience?
In stark contrast, the service at neighboring spots like Nanea's Inu Pool Bar and Mauka Mokai restaurants have been consistently wonderful. I don’t understand why there is such a disparity between these Westin properties.
