It was okay. The show was pretty good but starts late (7:30 from from what I remember). Don't go hungry because it will take a while before you get food. I went with my mom and we didn't get called up for food until almost 7. The food is okay too. I enjoyed it but it was nothing special.
The tickets said to arrive early (we bought online) so we did. If your ticket says to get there early to redeem your ticket - that's a lie you don't need to do that as the staff will just check for your name. There will already be staff there directing people to where they should go. The location is outside but near the hotel lobby entrance. Just look for staff and ask for directions, they are expecting the luau crowd. You will have to wait in line for a long time. They will not let you in before the start time. But keep in mind if you don't get there early you will have to wait in a longer line. I didn't get VIP so this is my experience with the regular ticket: you walk in and get a small shell lei, and as you enter you will get stamped if you are 21 or older (drinks are unlimited). As you enter there will be a table with drinks (alcoholic and other wise); I suggest you get two in order to avoid a trip to the bar later. Throughout the night there are waiters coming around to get drink orders but I wouldn't rely on them. They take a while to circle through. Definitely go to the bar when you first arrive as the line is the shortest. Stock up on drinks early if you are expecting to take advantage of the unlimited drinks.
Once you are in, the staff will direct you to a table. The tables are long and family style. We got there pretty early so we got a pretty nice table spot. Close to the stage and near the cooking pit. Keep in mind you are not on the beach and, while you can take pictures of the beach, you are not near it. There will be an opportunity to take beautiful sunset photos though.
Once you sit, you'll be waiting for awhile for your table to be called to get your food. Although we had a good table spot , we where at the opposite side of the buffet so we were called almost last. Honestly getting there early isn't worth even getting a good spot because you can see the stage pretty well from everywhere.
After you go through the buffet, you have to wait until all tables go. Then after, maybe 20 min or so the show starts. You can get up to get more food, but that would mean walking in front of people while the dancers are on stage. The show is the best part of the luau for sure.
If you are looking for a cheap option with a great show then I would recommend this luau. But don't go with high expectations. Take some friends, get your drinks early, and...
Read moreOur first time visiting Maui, and we stayed at the Royal Lahaina right next door. My first Luau as well. We had an absolutely, terrific time! I highly suggest buying VIP tickets. With the VIP, we got in about an hour earlier it seemed then the other guests, and we got seated first, drinks first, ate first and professional photos at the sunset which you have an option to pay 20 bucks for afterwards. Service was great! I have read the other reviews and I read about the service, I want to make this known that OUR SERVICE WAS TERRIFIC. I can tell that when the show starts the staff does their best to stay out of the way/view of guests so they dont obstruct the view of the show. So if you have read reviews about drink service, pay no attention to those. It is not that hard to get up and walk to the bar. Its very close and convenient if you happen to need a beverage during the show. We didn't need to get up once, except for bathroom breaks, and there were plenty of breaks between shows when our waiter came to check on us and refill our drinks. Overall experience was phenomenal! Thank you for sharing your stories and history of all the islands, and letting us learn about your beautiful culture and heritage. Thank you for the great service, food, and drinks. Also want to mention the food was delicious!!! And to the lady who wrote a review complaining about mac and cheese and chicken nuggets, you clearly have no children. THANK YOU MYTHS OF MAUI for having those options for my children. Children are picky eaters and having kid friendly options is a plus for families. I also thought the food tasted delicious and was authentic, there was even poi and I loved all of it!
If you are thinking about going, GO! I highly recommend going the VIP route. My phone sucks at pictures, but this...
Read moreI'm incredibly disappointed in the management and production of the Luau.
The email confirmation I recieved said the entire experience would be from 545pm-845pm. However the luau ended at 738pm tonight.. The last call for the bar was at 720pm. Despite there being fine print that the timing varies due to seasonality the expectation is that the luau is 3hrs and you should ensure that at the beginning of the show the MC provides the guests with expectations of timing (people plan their time and stay/vacation in Mauii not to be disappointed and have to re-work plans). The seating was horrendous. The stage should have been higher because other guests were blocking myself and my husband from viewing the performers. All in all this was completely disappointing. We were offered so many promotional discounts to attend timeshares and get this Luau for just $16 USD. However, we knew we would not be interested in a timeshare but we still had high hopes for this Luau that we paid the full price on your website which was $$$$ overpriced (sorely regret this!).
This is a complete misrepresentation of what your Luau was to be (even mentioning this "Witness the Imu ceremony and the unearthing of the pua'a (pig) followed by a feast of roasted pork and sumptuous Hawaiian cuisine"). There was no "unearthing" of the pua'a...we were shown the roasted big being lifted (after we ate) and the meal was equivalent to a banquet hall buffet.
The only positive of this show were the performers: the dances and telling of the traditional stories.
I recommend finding a way to better the production of your Luau cause I will not just, not recommend your Luau to others, but strongly advise them to refrain...
