UPDATE 8/14/2025: I ended up talking to Gwen the next day who was super nice and did all she could to make me feel heard. Although, they did not have another room to put us in, she did her best to help. I even shared a picture of our room that made NO SENSE and she agreed it made no sense (so did the other gal at the counter with her). The big thing is, she LISTENED and cared!!! Fast forward three days, she got me in touch with customer relations who did offer us a new room. Since it has already been 5 days and we were checking out the next day, we opted to stay however, they did refund our daily resort fee which I was not expecting but was a nice touch. Because of Gwen and the customer service gal (I wish I remembered her name), I have updated my review from a 2 to a 4. Next time we come, we will likely come here again however, we might choose to rent from an individual on VRBO or another site like that (an owner there gave us that tip) so we have say in our room.
8/2/2025I'm here currently, sitting at the pool as I write this. To start: We were here last night during the tsunami warning of 2025 and all female staff and female manager were nothing but phenomenal! The communication was great and it really made my husband and I feel comfortable with the whole crazy situation.
Second: The grounds are beautiful, they really have taken care of all the little things and big things too. The biggest pool closest to the ocean is nice, a good temperature and seems well maintained however I have not been in it.
Third: Our room is nice enough and has the amenities, although probably the farthest from the water you could ask for (room 520). I just inquired the the gentleman at the front desk as to "what is the deal with the TV is on the same wall as our bed, so my husband and I cannot lay in bed and watch TV" (trivial, I know, but we spent a lot of money to be here and want to relax our way) and the response was, it's not their problem because each room is individually owned but he could send maintenance to see if they can move the TV. I let him know I do not believe that is possible because the couch would also have to be moved. I even stated, "so we are just out of luck at being comfortable even though we spent $3200 to be here." He once again responded with, I can send maintenance. Now look, I'm not looking for red carpet treatment BUT I would like to be treated as though I matter and he most definitely made me feel as though I don't. His delivery was so rude. He really made me feel like, he does not like tourists and he does not care about whether I am comfortable OR on this island. I come to Maui 3 times a year with the goal to purchase our vacation home here within the next year here in Maui, this is our first visit here at this resort and with our room situation and his service, I highly doubt, we will be back to...
Read moreIt was beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous. We really enjoyed staying at the AEI in Maui. The Safeway was a short drive up the road so we could have snacks and necessities in hand in the condo.
And driving a few miles north brought us to this amazing cove where we snorkeled, saw braiding fish and even 3 turtles. We brought underwater cameras but didn't develop them yet!
The restaurant on the premises, called Castaway, was very good too! (We actually kept running into sub-par food choices, so this was a big plus!)
Overall who could say anything but great things about Maui, and so do we. This lodging made out vacation even nicer....
Read moreThe resort was truly amazing! They had just about everything you can think of: DVD rentals, two pools, large hot tub, activities, beach rentals, private shore, lush plants, spacious rooms.
I would give the area 10/10. Everything was very private and secluded, off the street with the hustle and bustle, and felt like your own oasis.
There is a huge grocery store right across the street, a huge food truck meet up spot, and mini shops all within walking distance.
I'd you are even thinking about booking anywhere in Maui,...
