A one-star rating would be rather harsh, so a 2 it is...
The word "inu" in Hawaiian means to drink, an appropriate name for this bar that serves as the main watering hole at the pool of the brand new Westin Nanea timeshare/hotel. We're normally not pool people but we decided to check it out anyway.
ATMOSPHERE: The bar area is housed in an open-air pavilion complete with a few lounge-style chairs and TV's. The rest is pool deck seating.
MENU: Pricey! drinks, sandwiches and burgers.
While I refrained from having any libations mainly due to the exorbitant prices, my friends had some beer.
SERVICE: Here's where the main problem lies with this place. I had a front row view of the bar as we sat across the pool from it. A good 30 minutes went by and no one came to greet us. The two female cocktail servers working spent all of their time under the shade of the bar's pavilion and serviced just the lounge chairs there. Desperate, one of my friends had to walk to the bar to get menus. You'd think after seeing a guest walk to the bar and ask for a menu they'd pay attention and maybe even feel bad. Absolutely not. Want to order? Walk yourself back up again. I even noticed a couple sitting to the side of the pool and bar that had to self-serve themselves as well. Absolutely reprehensible in general as it lacks common courtesy but more so because of their risible prices.
OVERALL: I say bring your own booze to the pool and save money as they don't pay attention to paying...
Read moreWe came early around 11am for lunch with our little one and had a great experience. Iread some of the other reviews after being surprised at the low rating and it looks like it comes down to service. I do not recall our server's name which is unfortunate because she was great, super friendly and accommodating of our specific needs.
Also, the place was empty when we came in and nearly full when we left so think we benefitted from that in terms of focused service. We would come back here for an early lunch for sure, but recommend avoiding the crowded times.
Food was good if not epic: had the burger and while it was a bit overdone, it was otherwise quite tasty and well made. My wife had chicken nachos and she enjoyed those as well. My daughter's pizza could have been a bit crisper but pretty decent.
The blood orange coconut cocktail had was absolutely perfect, I had two of them! Not strong at all so don't plan to get a buzz on these but if you want a light, refreshing cocktail that's not at all too sweet or heavy, this is it.
Prices are resort prices, no surprise there. We are staying at the adjacent Westin property and about the same there. It's nice that you have access to all 3 properties and that they let you charge to your room from...
Read moreI'm a former chef. Today I was served moldy fruit that had lots of mold growth visible all over it. Super fuzzy mold. They need to check before they serve anything. When I took it back and told them about it I was told "sorry here's more fruit" I won't touch anything from this kitchen again. We are owners, been here before. It's sad to see how bad this property has gotten. Also when I tried to order a drink the bartender told me "no trust me you don't want that". If their own bartenders are telling you to avoid things on the menu it's a telling sign. Duke's is about a block away. Save your stomach eat somewhere...
