ATMOSPHERE: Nice size space in a new strip mall called South Maui Center which is on the east side of Lipoa Center. Dark decor but very inviting, very spacious with a big bar.
FOOD: Caesar Salad Holy bageezuz I've found my new favorite creator of this run-of-the-mill salad. Available in side or full sizes, all the Romaine leaves were bathed in their perfectly creamy dressing that wasn't fishy or tart, but deliciously just right. I haven't had a dressing this tasty in years. Instead of traditional croutons came 2 spears of crunchy focaccia crostinis.
Linguine Alle Vongole Very, very bland. The broth at the bottom of the dish had a deep garlic flavor but not much else; no saltiness or butteriness. The pasta was just plain tasteless. The clams were good. At first I declined having grated cheese added to my seafood dish - a big no-no in Italy - but after having zero flavor on my buds I flagged down the server for some. Well, a lot actually.
Spaghetti Bolognese I was hesitant about ordering this as too many places make theirs sweet which is totally gross to me. A few fellow Yelpers mentioned the taste as "spot on" and "perfect". I even asked our server who denied it being sweet. Sold. And hot damn, what a killer dish it was! The sauce had the perfect consistency - meaty, a little wet, but not drowning in sauce. And best of all, it was NOT sweet but perfectly balanced with a little salt and hint of sweetness from the tomatoes' natural flavors. The pasta was al dente, and the dish came out piping hot and stayed that way the whole way through, a first for me! The portion was generous and the price affordable. Highly recommended.
Penne Rosa Their version of a vodka sauce, done with mainly tomatoes and onions. The two forkfuls I tried were good, but there wasn't enough tomato flavor or salt. The dish needs some kind of salty meat like prosciutto or cheese to give it some life.
The Maui Meaty All the pizzas are one size, with a thin, chewy crust. This version was topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, and honey ham. It was tasty but a little too salty from the meats. I'd definitely try other toppings next time.
SERVICE: Consistently good throughout the years.
OVERALL: Extremely tasty caesar, bolognese and good pizza. Good portions & affordable. A...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Fabiani’s twice on Mother’s Day, once for breakfast and again for dinner. Each visit was nothing short of delightful!
Breakfast: The breakfast menu is a true treat! We indulged in over 8 breakfast items which were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The quality of the ingredients really shines through, and we appreciated the generous portions. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect start to Mother’s Day. The co-owner iMichelle Fabiani and Mike were actually in the kitchen that morning cooking and baking making sure everything turned out perfect. The staff is always very pleasant and polite accommodating to all the customers needs.
Dinner: For dinner, we ordered about eight entrées to split with each other], and it overly satisfied our Italian craving since we just finished washing the movie Nonna‘s after breakfast, which is about Italian grandmother’s cooking. The flavors were well-balanced, and it was evident that they take pride in their culinary creations. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience.
Pastries: No visit to Fabiani’s would be complete without trying their pastries! We sampled almost one of everything between both of our visits and it was heavenly. The perfect combination of flaky and rich, it was the ideal sweet ending to my meals. The red velvet cake is to die for, and in my opinion, one of the best desserts in the world
Overall, my experiences at Fabiani’s were fantastic. I highly recommend visiting this gem in Maui for anyone looking for delicious food and delightful pastries. I can’t wait to return!
I have frequented this restaurant dozens of times since they’ve opened and we also really enjoy the happy hour that they have with half off their...
Read moreBeen a long time customer of their Kihei location, since they opened. To say that their quality of food has gone down hill is an understatement statement. I work in the restaurant industry so I try to give a business the benefit of the doubt but it’s now consistently a poor experience here. Last night ordered a Caesar salad with avocado, 2 pizzas, spaghetti and meatballs and 2 cannoli’s. My biggest gripe with this order was that the avocado was completely inedible. It was as literally like hard rubber, should have never been served as the avocado was clearly no where near ripe. A $19 salad? Terrible. The pizza was ok but make sure you get the original 12” thin crust not their new 14” bc it’s drastically different and no where near as good as the original size. Spaghetti and meatballs are over priced at this point for the size of meatballs you get compared to the size they used to be. They’re also dry and smothered in sauce to make up for it. Sauce is good, but come on, we all know how much a package of spaghetti costs, $2.00? And they’re selling this dish for over $22+? And lastly, cannoli’s are soft bc they fill them long ahead of time and then let them sit in the desert case. If you’re from anywhere that cannoli’s are popular, you know they should be filled on order so the outside is crisp not soggy. Also had to wait upon arrival bc they had a printer issue with their pos system even tho their kitchen uses a KDS and not printers. After tip it was $127 and far from worth it. I’ll be going to Manoli’s next time or might even given Black Rock a try again. But there’s too many other options in Kihei then to keep over paying for poor quality food. PS: if you dine in, it’s setup like a quick serve restaurant. Order at the counter, take a...
