First time having dinner there. Unfortunately, it was the worst Mexican food I ever had. Ok, I ordered steak nachos, and the cheese tasted like it came from a can. Not to mention, it was like liquid. There was hardly any steak, and the jalapeños tasted like they came out of a jar that you can buy from foodland across the street. I could only have a couple of bites, then stopped. I have had nachos at many Mexican restaurants and other regular restaurants that serve it, but after 20 minutes, the cheese was still like liquid now tell me thats real cheese not canned cheese. They say authentic Mexican food. Their carniasada was very dry, and their beans were very watery. The waitress did not smile for even one second. It seemed like she didn't want to be there. A while after taking our order, she returned with our food. She then kept asking who ordered this. We asked her what it was, and she told us, then said, "So who ordered this?" I almost said, " You tell us you took our order 20 minutes ago, I then ordered a glass of beer that took a while. After finishing it I ordered another, but this time, I took my phone out and timed how long it took. After 10 minutes, I looked over at the bar, and there was 1 bartender and 3 customers sitting at the bar talking to the bartender. There were approximately 7 tables with 2 to 4 people at each table. Couple tables had drinks from the bar. I then looked back at the bar, and the guy who I asked for another beer looked at me and asked me if I needed something? I then said,"Yes, the beer I ordered about 15 minutes ago when you asked me if I would like another beer." he then goes to the bar and brings me the beer but doesn't say anything. I don't know if they had proper customer service training or even had it, but it was the worst customer service that I have experienced in a long time. There are a lot of tourists that go out to eat in Kihei. Without the tourist this restaurant will not be here too long. Like I said there's is a lot of tourists, and they will probably eat there once during their vacation here. You will more than likely ever see them again. I train at the gym next door and never saw locals in this restaurant. We were the only locals. After this experiencing what we did in this restaurant, I can see why. FYI, I just found out that a local person bought this restaurant. Hopefully, he changes the food and the employees who served us. You know what maybe they just need to be trained the right way. Hows that... Again FYI myself and majority of my family have worked in the food industry (hotels and restaurants) for years we have been giving high quality customer service and the Aloha spirit to all our customers no matter where their from even if your having a bad day it your job to provide the best customer service. if they don't come you don't get paid and if you don't change you attitude you will...

Read moreMy spouse has been on a roll with giving me great recommendations on restaurants I've never been to! My friend who came along also had a great experience here, so two positives should be enough confirmation.
ATMOSPHERE: They're located in the Azeka Shopping Center in the south wing where the gas station is. It's a quaint eatery with high ceilings which gives that airy feeling. There's a small bar and low tops throughout.
MENU: All the traditional Mexican fare including a children's menu and a handful of desserts. They also have an arsenal of tequila along with cocktails and beer.
BEVERAGE: Hawaiian Hibiscus Margarita - $11.00 I've had hibiscus juice in Mexico and liked it. It's similar to fruit punch but not as sweet. Combining that in a margarita sounded refreshing so this was an easy choice. I got it on the rocks, no salt. It was put together well with the perfect amount of alcohol and juice.
FOOD: Burrito Grande - $13.99 I added ground beef for $3.99 more. IMO, ground beef is the quintessential meat for anything Mexican as it's easy to eat, eliminating the need for silverware or "tooth-cutting". And, I prefer its texture compared to strips of steak. The burrito comes loaded with rice (which I axed), refried beans, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, grilled bell peppers, grilled onions and oddly mozzarella cheese, topped with a drizzle of sour cream. Yum, yum, yum. Soft and fresh tortilla, tasty filling, good portion size. My only complaint is the onions could've been grilled more.
SERVICE: We were immediately greeted and seated by Hugh who ended up being our server. Very friendly and professional guy for his young age. A small hiccup with my order was immediately fixed without hassle as I received my burrito without ground beef. Thank you!
OVERALL: Any Mexican eatery that serves ground beef is a winner in my book! Good food and service. A nice alternative to my favorite local...
