We went to Island Art Party Paint and Sip and had a marvelous time painting our landscape design. The night we went it was of the coastline with a palm trees, a beach chair and a hut. The ladies that showed us step by step instructions on how to paint our project were sweet, patient, knowledgeable but most of all, they were fun. When you get there, you check in and then they offer you a beverage of your choice and the pricing is comparable to most restaurants. They also had freshly popped popcorn cooked in coconut oil. Then they walk you to your designated spot and get you set up to paint by supplying you with everything you need. They give you an apron, paintbrushes, paper towels, an easel with a canvas on it and all the acrylic paint you will need for the project. They take through each step at the right pace and breakdown the project based on drying time is certain sections of the canvas. They play upbeat music to help everyone get in a great mood and by the the time your project is done, 2 hours have flown by, you’re in a good mood and you have your very own masterpiece. I can’t...
Read moreOverpriced and anti-creative. I envisioned a hip, bar scene with music and drinks, oil paints and studio-like setting. Instead it's a kindergarten art class.
For $40 REDUCED "kama'aina" local rate, you get acrylic paint, small canvas, overdone A/C and flourescent lights, DRINKS EXTRA. The teachers wear body mics and obnoxiously lead you through the construction of a sample art piece, interrupting from time to time to get group photos.
Yes, everyone paints the same picture! Not how I paint.
I did my own thing, suffered through the photos but was not even allowed to finish my piece due to their early closing time.
For $40 you could buy all your own supplies and booze and have a great party by yourself.
Acceptable for the novice painter who need the hand-holding and encouragement to complete a painting totally lacking in originality and soul. For anyone with an imagination, waste of...
Read moreSO easy and SO fun!! Our class was small, which is not typical for Island Art Party. I live in the neighborhood and every time I pass the studio, it is packed! I have never painted a picture before - ever. And I painted the hula girl with ease! If you know your basic shapes (circles, triangles, squares, etc.) and can measure stuff in approximate inches, you can be an artist, too!
The music and the environment were just so cool! We could've hung out there for several more hours!
The team at Island Art Party is full of Aloha! They offer free popcorn during class, talk story while our canvases dried and even sent a Mahalo email with our group picture the very next day!
Mahalo nui loa, Island Art Party! I'll be back to paint another! A...
