One of the BEST fish tacos I've ever had! We ended up coming here twice during our short trip to Maui because they were just that amazing.
Imagine that opening scene in Ratatouille where Remy is eating cheese and strawberries with his eyes closed with fireworks going off in the background - that's what you'll basically experience here with these flavor harmonizing 17 ingredient tacos. Absolutely loved the mango salsa giving a layer of sweetness to the dish. The fish was juicy, tender, and flaky. The coleslaw was crisp, fresh, and well-moisturized with saucey goodness. Squeeze some fresh lemon wedges over the taco and dig in. These tacos ain't no skimp either, so be prepared to make a little bit of a mess as you try to fold em up to take a bite.
Customer service is fast and friendly. Both times we went there was a big line, but it goes by fast and the food comes out pretty quick too! Definitely worth the wait, it's clearly a busy spot for a reason, and because of that you just know they're pumping out fresh food. If you're still reading this you're probably asking yourself whether or not you should try this place. I'll make it easy for you, just go, order their fish tacos, you won't be...

ATMOSPHERE: The always-packed eatery is located in the Azeka Shopping Center next to Peggy Sue's. All indoor & outdoor seating on cool surfboard-shaped tables are communal with posted signs encouraging the sharing of personal bubble space. Thankfully we did takeout as I love my space, especially when eating lol.
MENU: Seafood apps, salads, chowder, tacos, sandwiches, rice plates, fish/shrimp & chips, pasta.
FOOD: Shrimp & Chips My request of doing half shrimp and half fish with chips was denied. The seven pieces of breaded shrimp were on the smallish side, possibly even frozen, but deep fried perfectly and not oily, with a generous portion of shoestring fries, a cup of coleslaw, and cocktail sauce & ketchup for dipping. Very mainstream but good.
SERVICE: Friendly and helpful gal was taking orders. Our takeout order took about 20 minutes as they were pumping even at 2 in the afternoon. A friendly guy brought our package out to us, double checked the order, and thanked us. Very good service!

Read moreWe ordered the fish and chips and grilled fish over rice plate. The fish and chips came with one piece of ono and one of mahi. The fries were really good and they give you a ton! The coconut milk (no Mayo) Cole slaw was nice and fresh. The grilled ono was good, maybe slightly over cooked. The brown rice was good. I can’t figure out the tomato slice with shredded cheese on top garnish, haha! Who eats that? And it seems so wasteful! Omit it and save your money Coconut cafe! :)
My only complaint is that the Cole slaw and yummy tarter sauce come in little plastic containers, so wasteful!! And we were eating in the restaurant. They could just be served on the plate or in a little washable stainless cup like other restaurants. Or at the least in a paper compostable container with lid. And they didn’t have lids for the slaw plastic cups so you couldn’t even to take it home. The fountain sodas could also be served in washable plastic cups instead of throwaway paper. This restaurant could use an eco-friendly makeover.
Staff were friendly. You can eat inside or outside. Service is fast even...
