Consider investing your money elsewhere. Rooms are okay, decent kitchen with no oven. Ocean view is gorgeous, it is Hawaii afterall. There is a lot of construction going on currently which is the MAIN reason I would NOT recommend staying here. We were advised that it would be 8-4, Monday-Friday. Jackhammering starts at 730 and is all day long. We were also informed that we would be placed away from construction but the exact opposite happened. Construction literally right outside our door and with the jackhammering sounding as if it was right above our room. When I called the front desk their only response was "you were informed". Yes, it was mentioned. But we were also told if we had any issues to speak with the front desk-this was useless and a complete waste of my time.
The internet/wifi setup is extremely unacceptable of a setup for any hotel. Blue painters tape and sharpie claiming the wifi password was on the back of the router, but was not. This was 3 calls to the front desk just to get a wifi password that worked. There are multiple routers which inturn mean multiple networks available to connect to, but no password.
One day we came back to our room after a very long day exploring and wanted to rest only to not be able to get into our room. Thinking the key deactivated we went to the front desk and had them reprogrammed. This did not resolve the issue. We made another trip back downstairs only for them to not work when we went back to our room again.
Staff did come in one day unannounced and cleaned up a little which was great. They even ran the dishwasher....only for it to leak all over the kitchen floor when we got back. (I am still very thankful for their help, but dishwashers shouldn't be leaking)
Also to be noted that the sink was clogged in the bathroom and would fill up to the top just from brushing your teeth. A good way to make people turn water off while brushing their teeth, but clogged sinks don't look the best for $500+ a night.
There are no food services offered on site, but they do give a card to rent free dvds from a box downstairs. This was exciting, only to find out the dated Playstation 3 in our room didnt work. The DVD player found in the closet also didnt work or did not have all required cables to connect to the TV properly. There was also a VHS player found in the closet which was cool, but also shows this place is dated and has not been updated.
These may not seem like any 1 major issue. But when people spend their hard earned money on a vacation, especially an anniversary, they should have much less stress or aggravation. As someone who has traveled for work and stayed at many places- this facility is well below average and overpriced for what little it has to offer. I prefer my visits at any hotel for work or leisure to be as stress/aggravation free...
Read moreWe stayed in the premium oceanfront suite. The views were magical and our private balcony had new furniture compared to the other balconies on the lower floors. The suite was very nicely decorated with updated furniture. The king bed was comfy. We encountered a bug in our kitchen when we arrived, and the next morning there were dozens of small ones on the counter. They managed to get into our sealed loaf of bread somehow.. To be fair, there was a plaque warning us about bugs and leaving food out, but we thought a sealed container was fine to leave out. We ended up keeping all our food in the fridge for the rest of our stay and we only encountered bugs one other time (sugar ants, which we are used to getting at our own home. The first time we had dozens of earwigs). No housekeeping because of covid but you can still call the front desk and ask for things like new towels. The pool was nice and clean, the hot tub was hot indeed (automatically at 103° F). The grills at the pool looked awesome but we didn't get to use them. The concierge desk had two awesome workers, Susan and Morgan. Shout out to them for making our experience much more action packed! Concierge also offers a complimentary photo shoot, and our photographer ananda was awesome! Make sure to ask about the photo shoot of you stay here.. It's free (if you don't like any of the photos, then you can just leave and not pay anything.. But if you want to keep some photos that is when you pay, but the photo shoot itself is free) ! The beach directly in front of the resort should not be used for recreational swimming.. Only for experienced snorkeling. We got some free gifts from the front desk since it was our honeymoon. The parking lot was never too full despite a big chunk being closed due to renovations. The tower we stayed in was not the one the construction crews were working on starting at 7:30 am but we could still hear their drills from our bedroom. I definitely recommend this place for adults, or families with older children (teenagers) . I think with young kids, the bugs can really become a problem if you aren't careful with cleaning your room (remember, no...
Read moreI paid for this stay with points so keep that in mind. Overall this is a pretty decent resort- our room felt well appointed and upscale, the ocean views are great even from the lower floors, comfy bed, etc. There are really no amenities- restaurant, bar, etc. The worst element is the kitchen- it’s got all the appliances you need, but like most corporate condo hotels the limited number of low-quality knives, pots, pans etc make cooking a challenge. Just once it would be nice to see a place at this price range provide any decent kitchen equipment. So you will be going out to eat, but thankfully there are a bunch of food carts and other options nearby.
The other element that many other reviews touch on is that this place is currently under construction! Visually it wasn’t obtrusive- it’s not like there is debris everywhere or anything. But the noise is pretty rough, and basically the sound of drilling is audible inside from 8am - 3 or 4pm. It’s good motivation to go out and do stuff, but if you are looking to relax in your room, maybe don’t stay here until they finish this project. The staff were understanding, refunded our resort fees without any problem. But the way the construction is described on their website sort of undersells how disruptive it is, at least in my opinion, and I’d say that really they shouldn’t be charging any fees in the first place given the limited amenities, and especially not now. The resort fee covers great amenities like the PS3 in each room, lol. Pretty laughable to charge for a 15 year old, out of date video game console and a DVD disk rental service. As usual, just a ridiculous tacked on fee to keep the room charge looking lower.
So bear that in mind if you are booking now, but it looks like the project will be done in January 2023, so hopefully this is a non-issue after that point. This is probably a 4 star for me without that issue, but it’s hard to say because the cost plus resort fee and limited amenities definitely don’t feel like a great value, and I doubt it would choose this hotel again especially if I was paying full cost and wasn’t limited to the options available through a...
