Angelo's Greek Taverna — Restaurant in Maywood

The food is delicious, service is good and I always had great times whenever we ate there. With a great impression, I want to share the good food to my loved ones, so I ordered a catering cold platter for 20 people for my 40th Birthday celebration on 5 Sep 2020. As I specifically chose from catering menu, which states "a delicious variety of dips on a large tray served with pita", I expected to get a party tray/platter. Instead, I received 4 take out containers with mixed dips simply separated with pita breads. It would have been better to get the dips in each container, and pita breads in foil so I can create a platter myself. I didn't want to ruin my birthday celebration so I didn't call back to complain, but what a disappointment the way it was handled...

Finally say they were open so decided to give it a try. OMG! glad I did the food is out of this world, we first started out with Saganaki great taste & done to perfection, next we had Lemon Soup again it was so good I hated to see it gone, next for the main course we had Spinach Pie this pie was so creamy & delicious my wife could not finish it all because of the large portion, me I had the Gyro Platter, with Greek French Fries that were nice & crispy with lemon & seasonings on them, Gyro meat pilled high & I do mean pilled high plus the Lamb Kabobs that were so good!!! I highly recommend this place!!!!! I hate to say it because I want to be able to go back & get a seat!!! I almost forgot about the great service!!!...

I am giving Angelo's 4 stars, because when we walk in a nice young man come over to great us. He thought it was only 2 people. I told him 3 and that the other person was on there way and we would wait for the other person to arrive.. a young lady at the back of the restaurant told him to seat us, when he told her it was 3 and there were only tables for 2, she shrugged her shoulders like to bad. After I passed a remake they put 2 tables together. I did not feel welcome on my first visit. The food was GREAT. I might go back and try it again, to see if she still has the same attitude. I guess since they received a good review for the food they don't need to be friendly when...
