The most tasteless food Iāve ever eaten! We ordered 2 oxtail plates with Mac and cheese and cabbage. They didnāt have any rice and peas so they gave us white rice. We ordered collard greens but they told us after waiting over 45 minutes that they didnāt have any so they wanted us to pay an extra $3 for Mac and cheese. The oxtail werenāt tender and they tasted like they were cooked in water. The Mac and cheese was like eating textured air (absolutely no taste, not even a pinch of salt), and the cabbage was plain but had more natural flavor than anything on the whole entire plate. They didnāt have air conditioner in the restaurant so it was hot but they did have a fan. We spent over $75. Such a disappointment. Luckily I made oxtail a few days earlier so we took our plates home and used the gravy from mine to give it some flavor but you could tell which oxtail were cooked by me and which werenāt because even with me adding my flavored oxtail and gravy to theirs, once the gravy was gone it was like eating boiled meat with no flavor. The only reason why We went there was because of the reviews. They must have been made by friends and family because they couldnāt be real. We couldāve gone to a really nice restaurant and had a luxury dinner with drinks and flavor for what we paid. Iām not writing this review to bash this business, Iām writing this review so they can tighten up and do better by their customers. Please taste your food before you send it out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe first time I came here was about a month ago. I thought the curry chicken was delicious. It came with beans and rice, sweet plantains and cabbage. Before I paid for my small plate, I ordered a large portion of curry chicken which is about a $1. more than the small plate. After I paid, I was asked if I wanted a receipt. I did. When I looked at it, I noticed I was charged for 2 large plates. I didnt say a word, ate my food and left. Today we went back and ordered 2 large curry chicken plates and 2 drinks. When the food was ready, the bill was about $50+. I asked what we were being charged for and was told 2 oxtail plates. We didnt order oxtails. The woman apologized and corrected the ticket. We paid and sat down to eat. There were no plantains on either plate. When we questioned this, the woman said "you want plantains? I'll make them for you right now and bring them to the table. We didnt have any ready when you ordered." So why didnt she say that when we ordered? Had we not sat there to eat, we would have paid for a full plate and not gotten everything. Both experiences at the restaurant were a bit shady. Again the food was great. Was I being hussled? Maybe I wasnt. Maybe they were just busy and understaffed like every other business since covid. If there is a next time, I'll pay more attention when I order. Check my receipt and the plate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood: I ordered curry chicken roti with Irish moss today. I was expecting it to be good but it was the worst Jamaican food I've tasted in the area. There were 3 small pieces of curry chicken (one piece was just a tendon so there was little to no meat on it) and a few potatoes. If you cannot curry your chicken, you shouldn't be selling it at all. The Irish moss was disgusting too. When I took my first sip, I had to pause and look at myself in the rear-view mirror because I couldn't comprehend what I was drinking. I tried to stay positive so I gave it a few more tries, but I should've known better from the first sip. Service: When I entered the building, 2 women who worked there were staring at me as if I'm not supposed to be there. No hi, or any greetings at all. They had the meanest look on their faces for absolutely no reason. The menu inside the establishment, curry chicken roti is $12.00. The lady at the registered charged me $17.00 which is the price of the shrimp roti. I said something about it, and she stood there and stared at me like I was wasting her time.
In conclusion, that will be my first and last time visiting "Island Paradise." How do you live in foreign with no manners? And how do you sell food that doesn't taste good? I should've known from the empty parking lot. LUCKILY, ADDIKTIVE Blended Flavas was right there. They saved...
