Best kabobs in McKinney by a long shot. I have tried on two occasions the following:
Grilled Items: Iraqi Kabob (ground beef) Chicken Kabob Lamb Tikka Shish Tawook
Salads: Fatoush Showander Mayo Salad
Appetizer: Beef Burk
Ground beef and chicken are the best options but I am splitting hairs on the lamb tikka and shish tawook. All grill plates come with grilled tomato quarters, grilled onion and a grilled serrano pepper. All of it is excellent! The bread is similar to tandoor naan just larger. Both dining occasions we received an excellent seasoned lamb soup/stock. The first time in the evening we received a complimentary salad and it was light, well seasoned with a light Basalmic and had cucumber and tomato. My family loves beets so the Showander (beets, pomegranate seeds and Basalmic) was a new but excellent salad. The rice is well seasoned and has fried onions, vermicelli and raisins. The grill plates also come with a side of lettuce, fresh tomato slices, and fresh cucumber. Be sure to ask for the garlic sauce!
Each time they have had unexpected line of customers come to order in store, dine in and pick up to go orders. They can get overwhelmed as everything is freshly prepared. They apologize and work their hardest to get out the orders. Not everyone has the same amount of patience. Just know this going in.
I can't recommend this restaurant enough! I am glad they are in McKinney! I will be giving them a lot of...
Read moreAl Baraka is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, hospitable atmosphere that felt both welcoming and cozy. The elegant yet understated decor creates a relaxing dining experience, perfect for family meals or a casual outing with friends.
The menu boasts a wide variety of flavorful dishes that showcase the richness of Middle Eastern cooking. I started with the lentil soup, which was hearty, perfectly spiced, and served piping hot. The mixed grill platter was the highlight of the meal — tender lamb, juicy chicken kebabs, and perfectly seasoned kofta, all cooked to perfection and served with fluffy saffron rice.
The falafel was another standout: crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, paired with a creamy tahini sauce. Portions are generous, making it excellent value for money.
Service at Al Baraka was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and happy to offer recommendations, ensuring we felt taken care of throughout the meal.
For dessert, the kunafa was divine — crispy, syrupy, and perfectly balanced with a creamy...
Read moreAWFUL, EXPENSIVE garbage food! I drive from McKinney to Oasis in Plano every week or two to stock up on cheese pies; I typically buy between 5-10 at a time. When I saw a facebook post by the McKinney PD yesterday thanking the local masjid for providing meals prepared by Albaraka and discovered they have cheese pies on the menu, I was so excited to to go there for lunch today. I ordered two cheese pies to go; if they were good, I’d quit making the trek to Plano and go here instead.
Got home, opened the surprisingly small styrofoam food container and was dismayed to see their “cheese pie” not only looked NOTHING like any other I’ve ever eaten, it didn’t even look like the cheese pie on their own website.
The “flatbread” is the size of a tortilla and it’s so floppy you need both hands to eat it. It had some kind of seeds all over the top which are not included in the item description or picture. It tastes terrible and cost $2 more than the authentic cheese pies at Oasis.
I’m extremely disappointed in myself for wasting almost $12 on...
