The service made the experience less than desirable. Although a reservation was made the table was not ready when we arrived. A couple that arrived after us was seated before our table was arranged. The hostess's daughter offered to seat us, but stated she couldn't because she would get in trouble with her mother. I ordered the asparagus soup, halibut and a side of carrots. My guest attempted to order a butter lettuce salad, side of asparagus and duck confit. While taking our order the hostess informed us my guest that it was too much food. My guest didn't push the order of asparagus. We ordered the clams with pork belly appetizer. Our intent was to have a 5 course meal at a 5 star restaurant. The soup and salad arrived before the appetizer. The salad was delicious-the balsamic vinegar, fresh parmesan and candied walnuts were delicious. The asparagus soup was slightly salty otherwise delicious. The pork belly was overcooked to the point of being dry and the teriyaki seasoning was out of place alongside the flavorful broth and clams. The halibut was cooked perfectly and placed in well seasoned broth. The side of carrots while well seasoned were overcooked to the point of being dry. The duck was slightly dry although the sauce to dip it in was delicious. The mashed potatoes smear was flavorful. We had to ask for water numerous times. When we asked the waiter to leave the water carafe the waiter said he couldn't. The hostess regularly replaced our utensils with each course. The clams with pork belly were placed in the center of the table with no plates provided to eat them on. When the clams were almost finished the hostess returned to our table to tell us to use our hands as she would provide towels although we told her we'd continue to use our forks she brought towels. The chef and the service are not aligned. I would only return if the service improved. While the restaurant appeared clean it was very small and appeared to be an old craftsman home that was attempting to look like a high...

Decant is an oasis of deliciousness. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere. The decor is thoughtfully designed, creating a warm and inviting ambiance that makes you want to linger. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner, a casual get-together with friends, or a place to unwind after a long day, Decanter hits the mark. But the atmosphere is only half the story. The food at Decant is simply outstanding. The menu offers a beautiful selection of dishes, each prepared with evident care and attention to detail. I've had the pleasure of trying several items, and each one has been a delight. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are well-balanced, and the presentation is beautiful. It's clear that the chefs at Decant are passionate about their craft. Beyond the food and atmosphere, the service at Decant is truly exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They're always happy to offer recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is perfect. They strike the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth, making you feel welcomed and valued. Overall, Decant is a gem of a restaurant. It's a place where you can relax, enjoy delicious food, and experience wonderful service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to treat yourself to a fantastic meal, Decanter is the perfect choice. I can't...

We were traveling and staying in Medford. When we were looking for a place to have dinner, Decant came up. We saw the 4.9 review rating - then the menu - then called for reservations. SOOOO glad we did. They were able to accommodate our earlier than usual eating time (they open at 4, I think.)

My husband had shared that it was our anniversary when making reservations. From the time we entered until we left, it was a most delightful and perfect experience!! They immediately acknowledged our anniversary (almost all of the time it is not even acknowledged.) Our server, Edward, was outstanding - greeting us, answering questions about the menu, serving us - etc. He spoke so we could understand him (often it's the umpteenth time the server has shared the info and it's shared so quickly that a person can't catch it all nor retain it!)

My husband had the lamb, and I had the halibut dish - soo unique, sooo delicious. Each bite was savored and enjoyed. When a dish is served, the server shares about the dish!

Yes, we splurged on dessert and were not disappointed (and we are very particular about desserts !

Truth be told, I was in tears at the end of our meal - It was a delicious, relaxing time - just perfect (and evidently what I needed.)

We had one concerning thought - that the music was too loud; with that said, we were able to visit with each other comfortably.

We know where to go for dinner in Medford and would make a special trip/spend the night to...

Decant has been a favorite local fine-dining option of mine. The food quality remains outstanding. However, the prices have skyrocketed since we last came. They charged us $9 for bread, and two stamp-sized pieces of focaccia came out to greet us. For some reason, that felt excessive and rubbed us the wrong way. Didn’t set the best tone. The entrées were outstanding and executed to perfection. The tri-tip was seasoned beautifully and the accompanying BBQ sauce provided a contrasting sweet kick to each savory bite. We also had the halibut which was a gorgeous umami experience, bathing in a delicious dashi. I didn’t leave behind a single drop. The ambience in the outdoor patio is very romantic. At least three couples were celebrating their anniversary dinner there. It may be worth it to stop by for a rare special occasion, but otherwise I doubt we will be back anytime soon. While the food is great, the Manhattan-level pricing puts it out of reach if value is important to you.

This was hands down the best meal and restaurant experience I have had in a long time. All of the food was amazing. Don't get attached to a favorite dish because staff told us they have a seasonal menu that and the chef often adds new dishes or subtracts. That said, everything on the menu looked amazing, everything I ate was the best thing I've put into my mouth. So its almost exciting to think of what dishes you could enjoy in the moment. Staff was amazing, considerate and kind, and attentive and professional, and everything you'd want. It felt like we were at a friend's for dinner. But a fancy friend, that has a chef. We ate outside on the patio and the ambience was so nice. I was celebrating my birthday and they gave me a free glass of champagne. This just became my favorite special occasion spot. Hands down. Come here! Totally recommend. Worth every penny and minute spent here.

We enjoyed a spectacular meal last night at Decant after receiving a strong recommendation from Edenvale Winery. We had the day boat scallop appetizer, which was perfectly prepared. I had the pan seared salmon entree and my husband had the teres major. Both dishes were incredible. The flavors were delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. For dessert, we shared the pistachio semi freddo, with a sort of sabayon, fennel and strawberries. Great flavors, unique dish. The staff was awesome, particularly Edward, who was simply top notch. All in all it was a winner for us, just delightful from start to finish. Whenever we’re back in Medford, we’ll be sure to revisit Decant.
