Luna Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Medford

JUAN TOLD ME THT ME AND MY FAMILY WERE NOT WELCOME AND TO NEVER COME BACK!!!!!!!!!! This past Sunday I ordered a Togo family Special. It took me about 8-10 phone calls with in about a 30 period to not just get an answering machine but finally get an actual person on the phone. I ordered it about 3 hours ahead of time and said I’d pick it up at 5:00. When I walked into the restaurant at 4:55 the girl at the counter said are you Wendy? And I said yes. Then she said that my order would not be ready for another 20 minutes. She said they just had a big catering order. I was irritated because the whole reason for call so far in advance was so it would be ready when I got there. But I said I would wait in my car. After 20 minutes of waiting, I went back into the restaurant and it still wasn’t ready. But I paid for it to save time and left a tip that I later regretted. While still waiting Inside the restaurant my friend walked in. She was getting the Togo family special also. I had talked to her earlier in the day and told her we were wanting to get the family special and take it over to my parents house since my mom had fractured her knee. So I gave her the idea to get dinner there also. As soon as she walked into the restaurant the same girl at the counter mentioned her name and then walked towards the back. I asked my friend when she placed her order. She said 20 minutes ago. By this time I had already been waiting over that time period for my order. So I told my friend I had called 3 hours ahead of time so I could have my order ready by 5:00. Then I said the lady better not be bringing her order before mine. Well guess what, that’s exactly what happened. So now I’m really upset because my order was placed way before my friends and now I know they lied to me about why it wasn’t ready on time. They had just forgot to put my order in until they saw me walk in. I told the lady that this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town and I’m a regular customer but this makes me not want to come back. She didn’t have anything to say. Then a few minutes later JUAN come up front with my food so I started telling him that I wasn’t happy about how long it took since I ordered it way in advance and as he was handling the box of food to me he pulled it back and said well I can just give your money back. But I told him I need to take it to my parents and I’ve been waiting a long time for it. Then JUAN said just don’t come back here again then. Shocked by what he said I told him believe me I won’t. I took the food to my car and told my husband who had been waiting what JUAN had said. Then I said I’m going back in to get his name because I’m writing a review. So I went in and went up to him and asked his name. He told me and then I told him i needed it for the review I was going to write. He said fine and then said, “you and your family are not welcome here, so don’t ever come back.” Wow, if this is how one of Lunas people deals with a customer that they clearly gave extremely poor service to I would never want to give them any of my business. There food amazing. The owner lalo he is a good guy he’s awesome. But the book keeper/hostess Paige she’s awful, she treats some of her employees horribly and creates rumours of them to make them look bad to the other employees and owners, she gossips about them even if the info is false accusations. She doesn’t pay her employees on time often 5 days to 2 weeks late, very unorganized and poor work ethic, extremely rude and threatening to the employees, and when she starts to gain an unliking opinion of you she doesn’t tip you out and says rumors to the other employees so then they don’t like you and treat you poorly aswell and her and the owners and higher up employees are like 🤞🏽 its a very political and corrupt place and then all the waiters begin to not tip you out and it’s a very mentally draining place to work at. It’s horrible to treat your employees that way and act like a 15 year old girl when your about 60-65 years old. She treats her other employees like that and worse to the employee who have language barriers and only speak Spanish and their only option is to stay and take it bc where else are they supposed to work only speaking Spanish? Yeah their food is very good they have very good cooks even tho some them are DRUNK while they are working and also drinking while working in the back, but the management and the treatment to the employees is so awful if I could go negative in stars for a review I would bc the food is not what matters it’s the treatment it’s the overall ethics and morals the management has. Also they are so unreliable with paying even after paying late 95% of the time they’re paychecks bounce a lot creating employees bank accounts going negative and giving them undeserved flags and then they just pay you in cash. First of all, the beauty of this place is amazing. The ambiance is fantastic and feels warm, and relaxing. The decor is out of this world, the chandeliers and the unique feel of this place is overall mind-blowing. Their bathroom is also fabulous, as you walk to the bathroom you can see the kitchen and what they are up to back there. The whole place is spotless, to the point the kitchen looks like a part of the dining area. The bathroom, as I said, beautiful, spotless. Usually I am scared of any public restroom in anticipation its wrecked or trashy even if the restaurant is nice. Now, to the real point of this review. Food. For what you pay, THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE. They do not mess around, all the food is fresh, the beans are fresh, and flavorful, moist. The Chile Relleno has real queso, the Carne a la Chinca's unique and vibrant taste is unreal, top of the line, quality carne meat is used even in their nachos. It's unreal. Food is PIPING hot, and comes to you at a reasonable time. The owner of the place when we came in was there doing his rounds checking tables to make sure food was up to par and clearly takes pride in serving quality food and seeing people to be pleased.
