This was a very good experience from beginning to the end! I will definitely stay here again!
When we first made our reservation for the weekend we thought we got it for a real good price. As a baseball/softball umpire, I was able to use the rate code for the "sports officials" rate.
Well about a month later we thought we might need to add a room and we found that the rate had gone down a fair amount. So I was not looking forward to have to make a new reservation and then cancel the old one. Well I was wrong, Marriott now lets you just update the rates if the rate goes down (not sure if they let you do it as easy if rates go up?) So that was the first bonus.
I made the reservation for two beds as I was bringing my family down with me, just so they could get away themselves. I was working as an Umpire for a softball tournament just down the road at the Lithia and driveway fields. So it was important for our kids to have the pool. The pool and hot tub, which I enjoyed after the long drive there and also after a long day of umpiring, very clean and inviting. I would just recommend that you walk real slow on the pool deck as it is very slippery, even while walking with caution.
I had called in to the front desk the day before our arrival to ask a couple of questions. Phyllis was very helpful. Without me even asking she even confirmed some special request and let me know that it would be taken care of when we arrived. Then she even said that she would be there when we arrived.
When we arrived the next evening at 9pm (I had told her 8pm), Phyllis greeted us and as soon as I said my name, she said she had been waiting for us and that she had everything I had requested and gave me all our keys. I don't think I spent more than 30 seconds checking in. 😊
The next morning we went down for breakfast at 7am. My first game was not until 9:30am. Enjoyed the hot waffle that you make on your own. Also had an English muffin with a little scrambled egg (my wife is really picky about her scrambled eggs and she loved these!) and the turkey sausage patty. With a little apple juice I was ready for the day.
Now when we checked in we were asked if we would require any room service the next day. Typically they only do that if you are staying mare than two mights but if requested they will come to your room before then.
Overall the room was clean and beds comfortable. The room was a little awkward in the the placement of the TV made it so that one of the beds was far off to the side and difficult to watch from that angle. The room that we had was 325 and it is right next to the elevator exit hallway. I was concerned that we would be hearing that and people all the time. I was shocked by how quiet that room was. We did not hear the elevator nor people unless they were right outside our door, and that could be any room.
Like I said at the beginning, I will for sure go back to this hotel when I am in the area and when the next...
Read moreFor the last year, I have attempted to stay at three main stream motel/hotels in this area as I must travel to this location often and been disappointed with every stay. Dis-appointed with high prices and hotels having tiny rooms with extremely old furnishings, old decorating, broken closets and un-heated pools to franchises with exenterated advertising of being newly remodeled. I decided to surf the net for another well known popular chain, the Marriot. I was pleased to speak to a very professional but extremely friendly staff person. She was able to give me a room with a price only $13.00 over my previous absolute disastrous stay at the next door, same look/size chain hotel. Upon arrival, I had my travel caretaker check in and she was very impressed with the staff and the atmosphere of the lobby. When entering the hotel, I was again extremely impressed with the cleanliness and beauty of SpringHill Suites! A beautiful hallway, carpeting and hard floor alike this hotel has "you're important" written everywhere. The room was clean, spacious and for the first time in a life of traveling as beautiful a wheelchair accessible room as I have seen. This room was spacious, clean and modern. To my delight, there were no 'old style' bedspreads always present,( and currently out-dated) but crisp clean white sheet and light washed-every-time covering. That being said, as I made it across the room I was shocked to see a TV stand old, marked up with dings and scratches, which stood out in such a great room. The only other complaints are as follows. There are no instructions on how to access HBO movies. Though a guide is provided, no on screen or written 'how-to' is anywhere to be found. The staff at the front desk did not know how to access it either. In addition be prepared for a in-depth tiny instruction sheet on accessing Wi-Fi. Lastly and though this may seem petty, there are no Coke products for the guests. Overall however, this is a fantastic hotel. It lives up to everything displayed on the web site including to my delight, a couch in the two adult/ two queen bed room! We were comfortable, warm, and exceptionally pleased with our stay. My service dog was welcome by every member of the staff even though (though I am not sure) this hotel does not accept pets. The staff was knowledgeable, gracious and warm. I will definitely return to the SpringHill...
Read moreAfter traveling over 700 miles including over 2 snow-covered and dangerous mountain passes with my pregnant wife for a total of 12 hours on the road, I was greeted by a front desk staff who was rather unwelcoming (did not lookup from the computer to acknowledge someone walking into the lobby or during the "welcome, are you checking in" conversation, etc).
During check-in I was told that they did not have the room I paid for ($180 / 1 King Bed). Instead the unfriendly staff stated they had another room they would give me for the same rate (2 Queen Beds). After handing me the room key (to which she did not ask how many keys I needed), I asked to speak to a supervisor/manager to discuss the room situation.
The staff supervisor came to the front desk promptly and when I asked them how it's possible that I paid almost $200 for a hotel room and was not receiving what I paid for, she stated that they were like the airline industry and that technically the (2 Queen Bed) room was more expensive so I was receiving a discount by getting it at the same rate, and that I did not receive the room because I was the last person to check in (I was checking in at 8pm).
The supervisor was courteous and meant well but unfortunately it was a very tone-deaf response to someone whose been traveling with a pregnant wife over a long distance and through hazardous snow conditions. Not only was it tone-deaf, it was extremely unprofessional and just didn't make sense. I've never had this problem with an airline before during holiday travels or even at a Marriott other than this location. If you're driving from California, I do not recommend staying at this location because of this unprofessional experience and poor service.
One simple thing the hotel could've done would be to place a courtesy call to those that have reserved/paid for the hotel room to confirm their stay. This could've easily been resolved by simply communicating with me as the guest to let me know ahead of time instead of taking my money and wasting my time and requiring me to show-up to figure all of this out and refund my...
