The Point is good, until it isn't. Tonight, it was the worst experience I've had in the more than roughly 100 visits we have made there since it opened. The Point has been a staple for my family and we usually go at least once per week because we count on a decent meal with efficient service. After working too late to cook dinner today, the family headed to the Point expecting the same reliable service we have come to rely on. We sat ourselves, as we often do, and while waiting for menus to be brought to the table we watched the waitress (who has waited on us many times before) make at least three passes by our table without even a acknowledging our presence. While certainly not their best waitstaff, she has never displayed sure terrible service in the past. We waited a solid 20 minutes, giving her the benefit of the doubt; still not even a quick "hello.... sorry for the wait.... or, I will be right with you." We left. Not sure if we will ever go back after that. Which is really sad considering it was not only our 'go-to' place, but we have talked it up to so many friends and family. In a community severely lacking a decent, family friendly restaurant, it is truly disheartening to receive such bad service, and forcing our family to now find an alternative dining experience. Luckily, Ashland is only 15-20...
Read moreThe Point Pub has that old-school look and feel of a good old-fashioned neighborhood pub with plenty of down-home ambiance. It also includes the usual array of big screen TVs you'd find in Sports Bars, along with plenty of locals! We felt right at home!
Our server, Bryceton, was attentive, cordial, and polite, and he even gave us a few sample shots of some of the ciders and IPAs from their drinks menu. I'm a big fan of IPAs, and the one I settled on (#2) was fantastic! My way better half had a hard cider, and she REALY loved it!
She had the Soutwest Chicken Salad, which she loved every bite of, and I had the Beer Battered Fish (Cod) and Chips. The fish was exceptionally tasty, and while I'm not much of a chips fan, those were some of THE best fries I've EVER had! There was some sort of spicey (but not hot) coating on them that was just to die for!
Overall, everything about The Point Pub & Grill screamed of down-home, local, neighbood Pub where you'd end up knowing the names of everyone who works there, along with the names of their kids!
The food is GREAT, the service is fantastic and you'll feel just like you're back home in your favorite pub, ready to watch that Monday Night football game with your wife or girlfriend, your pals from work, and enjoy a great meal when its over!

I got the calimari and it was nicely seasoned and had a nice, light batter. My mom got the beer battered cod. Normally cod doesn't seem to have much flavor, but this actually did feel like it was seasoned before being battered so that it had it's own flavor on top of the breading. She also got a Lavender Blossom drink which legitimately smelled like a flower (I felt a bit like a humming bird smelling my little shot glass taster) and although the amount of vodka was a bit much for my personal taste, the drink was quite delicious. For the record, I am old enough to drink, so no worries. Dad got the meatballs off the Moomoo Palooza (or something) menu. These were surprisingly light for what they were and the barbeque sauce was wonderful. We all shared a basket of onion rings which were, you guessed it, nice and light. They were probably the only onion rings I've ever been able to bite through without issue, but that's probably not something most people usually have a problem with. Finally, the gentleman who served us was great. He came back multiple times and was patient with us as it was it first time there. He injected a little humor into the conversation but kept things professional.
We will...
