A couple years ago I got tired of the rude staff and bad coffee so I stopped going. A shame since it’s right in town and the location is great! After the Memorial Day parade today we were hungry and I remembered today that I had an old gift card for this place so I attempted to give it another shot, ugh. Huge mistake. The girl at the register was so so rude. My husband also noticed. I wasn’t allowed to use my gift card (old system and the $ needed to be transferred to a new gift card but the girl rudely told me it was NOT possible to do today and I’d have to come back to do it another time) and she was generally just a little snot. Rather than just go check how long our food order would be she tried to steer us away from ordering because “it would take too long” umm ok. She told me that quiche would take the longest (over 30 minutes is what we were told). Hmmm I didn’t order an entire quiche..just one slice! Let’s be serious....each slice is reheated and does not come from a fresh pie. When another employee heard this she came over and and said that the cook only had one order on his list so we proceeded with our order. I was pretty frustrated that I couldn’t use my gift card but we had waited in a very long line so we had no choice but to pay with a regular card and continue on. There was no thank you or anything when our order was complete. My regular coffee was still bad like it used to be. My husbands pumpkin latte was alright. It generally just feels like the staff does not want you there and like you are an inconvenience to them. I felt bad for this place for a second when burlap and bean opened down the street but I don’t feel bad anymore. They are much friendlier and have much better coffee. Go...
Read moreGreat coffee ~ from plain Joe to exotic concoctions. Also, yummy sodas. ( and The Usual Suspects...) Sandwiches are all tasty. Try them all. ( I'm crazy about the sweet and savory chicken salad sandwich. It is served on a wonderful bread. Yes there are raisins in the bread -~ just enough to a subtle zing factor..
Fast and friendly service
HOWEVER ~ Please heed this WARNING (😀) regarding their wide variety of DESSERTS, ice cream and gelato. It may be extreme but I strongly encourage you to try every offering in the in the dessert Department.
Cozy but not crowded. Relaxed seating outside and yes it's dog friendly outside. Also seven stones Cafe lots of bowls and lots of Waterford doggies to drink out of.
You can just sit for a while and use your computer or devices and it's all a very relaxed atmosphere. Oh, did we mention on weekend evenings there is a live music presentation? And the wide variety of music is generally fun.
BONUS there is a Seven stones store that offers a wide variety of jewelry, rings and earrings. It is worth mentioning that there is a very interesting array of these items. And all relatively reasonably priced.
My humble suggestion - fill your belly at the seven stones Cafe on Plum Street, relax and then stroll on over to seven stones store on the east side of State Street, just a few blocks down and look at the lovely jewelry and dresses and dare I say hippy dippy stuff. You will have a great time. Peace...
Read moreSeven Stones is an awesome local coffee shop with an earthy-hippie vibe, but it's much more as well. Grab the handle to enter through the courtyard and you'll notice right away that this place is different - they re-purposed a spoon on one door and a fork on the other for handles. Of course you're going to get awesome coffee, standards like lattes and mochas, but they also have hot cider and signature lattes and some very creative mixes that are delicious. They sell pre-made wrapped sandwiches at the counter, but also all sorts of made-to-order as well. They also have Homemade Quiche served on a bed of greens made with Organic Free Range Eggs and baked on premise. Varieties of Spinach Cheese, Ham Cheese and Gluten Free Spinach and Cheese. Another really cool aspect is their partnership with E3 Garden. All of their veggies are from E3. E3garden is an urban farm that specializes in growing fresh “live” lettuces, greens, herbs, microgreens, and seedlings 365 days a year using sunlight, natural methods and the latest technologies to save energy, water, and minimize impact to the environment. So, they're delicious and respectful to the planet...
