Decided to try this place this week on a recommendation. Although the food was good, I was not impressed at all and was extremely disappointed.
We had a reservation, but were the only ones in the entire restaurant when we arrived. We asked to be seated by the window, but said we couldn't because that table was already reserved. Finally, we convinced the host to seat us there.
The premises were disgusting. The floor was dirty, the decorations somewhat dated. For a $200 (including tip) meal, I would expect the tables to be clean and have a table cloth. But it was pretty beat up wood tables that you would expect to find in local bar. There were also flies everywhere! They were swarming at the windows, landing on our food and cheese dish and flying all around. There was some other insects too flying around which I swore bit me a few times, but I don't know. It wasn't too pleasant.
The server was highly unprofessional and didn't at all seem knowledgeable about the menu. The server was someone you would expect at a Friendly's or Diner. She barely ever came to check up on this or provide the courtesy you would expect in a $100 per person restaurant. Our used dishes were never cleared in a timely fashion from the table and for a place that calls itself a French Wine Bistro, the wine list was pretty lacking and again, the server wasn't even able to recommend us a proper wine pairing with our food. Again, the wine list was something you'd find out of a local redneck bar, not a fine dining establishment.
The food itself was actually quite good. The Filet Mignon and Lamb Chop entrees my date and I ordered were extremely good and the presentation was top notch. But overall, the disgusting premises and horrific service we received gave this place a THUMBS DOWN!
Oh, and when I order a crisp white wine, I expect it to be chilled. The Pinot Grigio I ordered was at room temperature.
My recommendation: Avoid this place at all costs. You WILL be...
Read moreWish I could rate this place 0 stars, but that isn't an option. The service at this place isn't just bad--they're racist. I'm Asian, and I was thoroughly discriminated against there.
I went in for an evening meal, and was supervising a work shift so I was speaking very quietly (in Chinese) on the phone in a hushed voice. The man and his wife next to me began to harass me, first making passive aggressive comments about how rude I was being since I was on the phone, and then yelling at me directly. I apologized to them, as I had to be on the phone for work for a little bit. The man continued to harass me, to the point where I felt genuinely victimized. At that point, the waitress walked over and asked the man if there was a problem, and the man proceeded to explain to her the situation from his perspective.
I then proceeded to tell the man to stop harassing me, or else I would call the cops. The waitress then came over again and took the (white) man and his wife's side and asked if he needed to call the cops on me! I was victimized, and since the restaurant hates Asians, they were willing to take the (white) guy's side over me. I left in a hurry and didn't tip a cent to the waitress who threatened to call the cops on me.
About a couple weeks later, I went to the Spanish restaurant that was also owned by the same company. After sitting there for 20 minutes without service, the owner walked up to me and rudely asked me to leave, since I didn't tip the last time. I couldn't believe it.
This is the most blatant display of racism and hatred against Asians in this country that I've been privy to in my entire life. I only wish that I had been in law school back then, I would have filed a hate crime claim against the restaurant. Unfortunately, the statute of...
Read moreHaving just returned from Paris, my friend and I were in the mood for some Parisian food. She loved her chicken crepes. I was grateful to find a vegetarian option in the gnocchi. Loved the fresh, delicately cut vegetables. It was a small portion and I thought excessive in price. We had to ask for bread. It wasn’t the traditional baguette sliced bread but the bread was excellent and warm. Unfortunately it did not come with French butter, and there is a world of difference. I would rethink the butter—especially with those prices. The watermelon gazpacho was delightful! We had such a lovely waiter who had not been advised as to the specials that night. While we were still eating our gazpacho we were twice asked by other staff if we were ready to have our plates taken away. They seemed to be in a rush to get us through our meal but the restaurant was half empty…While my friend was still eating her main course they came and took my plate away. It just felt like there were a few adjustments that needed to be made in protocol. As far as atmosphere, the tables and chairs are small for two people and not super comfortable but okay. Since there were so many empty tables, wished we had been offered a more spacious and comfortable table, as we had made a reservation. I think simple cut flowers would also add a lot at each table. I think when you charge a lot for your food, other things need to be there too. The chef was standing in the dining room looking out much of the evening. Maybe he wanted to see how everyone was enjoying their meal? I look forward to returning for lunch and trying the Croque Monsieur or perhaps...
