This is a vegetarian review. I ordered the vegetarian enchiladas which were absolutely fantastic. The grilled vegetables black beans and cheese within each of the two enchiladas on my plate we're seasoned and cooked to the right perfection.
This was a meal that completely hit the spot especially because the salsas that they serve are also absolutely fantastic. The spicy salsa is a habanero base the medium in mild roja salsas have their own depth to flavor.
I took her a one star for the following reasons, the chips to serve at your table while have crunch are completely cold and this just might be because thermometer restaurant is not able to scale their chip production for changing tables.
The second reason for removing the star is the lack of an option for a deeper tasting red sauce to the enchiladas.
The last reason for removing a star is that the right state plate is straight up white Uncle Ben's rise. I was expecting some kind of a Mexican or Spanish rice combination and I feel like this is probably a single biggest missed opportunity for the restaurant considering it should be pretty easy to make and scale.
None of my shortcomings should stop you from going to this restaurant. This restaurant is a great example of taking traditional Mexican food to the next level by adding an expanding the spectrum of flavor of my enchilada. You will roll out of Dos Gringos completely satisfied looking for a place to nap.
I would put this restaurant in the same league as Taqueria del...
Read moreI got a burrito with a ranch salsa sauce on it, and the sauce was kind of like sauce was kind of like Indian butter chicken; definitely not a Mexican vibe.
My wife got a ceviche special that came in a gloopy flavorless tomato sauce that seemed to be directly out of a can. The dish had a strong "who gives a **" vibe to it and she couldn't finish the small dish.
Then came the empanada special. My wife ate about half before I hungrily dove at it since I like any food that is wrapped in a crispy crust. An odd and very familiar smell filled my nose. Something was rancid about this thing. I didn't swallow my bite and we left the rest of the empanada next to our half eaten ceviche.
As we were checking out we mentioned that something seemed odd about the empanada that maybe the oil it was cooked in was rancid or something. She seemed to understand; she actually seemed a little unsurprised like that wasn't the first time she heard that this evening.
She said she was going to talk to someone, then left. We sat for a few minutes more thinking someone would come over and talk to us. A man that I can only assume is one of the owners was extremely attentive to the entire restaurants moment to moment activity so we expected he'd come over and talk to us at some point, but that never happened.
We paid and left and I guess we're not coming back and can't really recommend the specials, but if you're in the mood for Indian inspired Mexican you might want to check out the...
Read moreWe went there last night for dinner...the inside was empty...we sat outside. We waited more than 45 minutes for our order (which was nothing spectacular, by the way). At one point I went inside to cancel our order because my party had to be somewhere at a certain time and there was still no sign of our order. We were told our dinners were being plated at that very moment...and we STILL WAITED AN ADDITIONAL 15 MINUTES!!! The table next to us was also highly irritated because the women's dinner wasn't served until the rest of her party had finished their meals. After waiting more than 45 minutes for our order my son's fish tacos were cold, my granddaughter's steak fajitas were cold and my dinner was barely warm. Their solution was to offer us a 20% discount on our NEXT visit!! NEXT VISIT REALLY??? We declined the offer because we will NEVER eat here again. Don't waste your money here...the food is nothing special, and definitely not worth the wait. My guess is that the 4 star ratings were written by customers who have been drinking tequila while waiting endlessly for...
