If I could give 0 stars I would. 1/15/2025 at 6:50pm my boyfriend heads into the bar with me on the phone to order some wings for us since it’s his birthday. While walking in he sees someone he used to work with chatting with a female bartender. He waves and calls out to the person he used to work with. At the time the former coworker did not see my boyfriend, so he continued to try to get his attention. After about 30 seconds the female bartender walks over and says “when you can get off your phone you can order” and was saying how it was rude that my boyfriend was “rushing” her. Even though he was not even talking to her to begin with. After he explained that he wasn’t doing that to her and was waiting patiently his turn, she then denied service. Is this really how things are ran here? We have frequented John’s Bar numerous times (My boyfriend more than myself since I have had some questionable experiences there) and know how the system works. We are not rude people and there was no need for us to rush to place our order. Whoever was the bartender on this day was extremely unprofessional and shooed a paying customer away because she misunderstood what was going on. Horrible! I tried to call multiple times to speak with someone but it seems as soon as this situation happened no one is no longer answering the phone. Stay away...
Read moreJohn's is an interesting place. In a town that's been on the upswing for a while, it still has that heart of delco feel for gen x'ers or some millennials. Then there's the transplants from your baby boomers that moved out of philly that seem to keep the bar segregated at some hours and have jukebox wars. The staff is at times aloof, yet you rarely wait long for a cocktail or beer. I've never had a bad time in quite a few visits. If you walk in with an open mind and positive attitude, the smoking section (on either street entrance) can be an enchanting time. I've never had a meal there so I can't speak towards the grill. The alcohol prices are very competitive, especially compared to other media bars. It's not social club cheap, but they are more than fair and open later than most bars in the area, with a take-out selection for...
Read moreJohn's was our first stop while being with our family to celebrate New Year's. I went to order drinks for our party and the bartender looked at my South Carolina drivers license and said she couldn't serve me because I was from out of the state. She then walked away and was very rude. My father in law then went to buy the drinks since he has a Pennsylvania drivers license and they said they would serve him but that I can't have a drink. I am 27 years old and was visiting family for the holidays from out of state. It was a terrible experience and the worst service ever. All 10 of us left and will never return. Very...
