My experience at Ronnie’s was subpar at best. Primarily my waitress was the main reason for the poor service I received. First, there was no free rolls, when every other table got it (seems that it shouldn’t be something to ask for, but it wasn’t that bothersome). Our waitress rushed us to order, expecting us to read all of the fine print of the menu, as the dish titles were all in Italian. When the food came out, the salad was actually quite good, but the trouble came out when the entree arrived. I ordered a Leontina with shrimp, which had the tall-tale-tell of pre-cooked, frozen shrimp. The shrimp was dreadfully overcooked and still had the tails on it (it’s a pasta dish, I don’t wanna stick my hands all in it). The shrimp was rubbery, tough, and bland. The pasta was cooked nicely, however it had minimal seasoning and made me want to fall asleep. Very sad dish overall. My friend and I stayed for dessert, which overall was a good decision, but still had some problems. The cheesecake I had also tasted like it had either been store bought or frozen for a week or two. The homemade berry sauce was quite excellent, but was spread across the plate very sparingly, making me want more. The tiramisu my friend had was excellent, no complaints there. Service was the biggest problem, as after our server took our order, she never brought us our food and delegated it to her coworkers. The strangest thing was when the bartender was the one to fill up our waters all night. This bartender was the best part of the night, as we drink a lot of water, and he was always on top of it. After our waitress brought the check, we wanted to tip the bartender more than her. After leaving a poor tip for her, she was visibly upset and let everyone know that she was upset. The perfect word to describe this dining...
Read morePosting a year later because I actually worked for this place.
My fiance surprised me with our engagement dinner here and I was so excited! The food itself was fantastic as it always is. We had reservations, and he specifically asked to be seated away from the bar since neither of us drink and he correctly assumed that I'd like to be in the main dining room since it was a special event. Unfortunately we were initially sat at the bar. We told our hostess that this wasn't what was requested and we got moved to the main dining room and was told we have an hour to eat because the table was already reserved by another party. I understand the tables are all planned out, but it also wasn't our fault that we were sat in a bad spot. Service? Well, our bread was brought out with our dinner. Our waitress quite obviously thought that, because we knew her, we didn't need any type of checking on which was terrible. My fiance spent upwards of $150 and we were sitting with dry glasses, without napkins, and without bread until the food came.
I'll also note that we came in for smaller meals twice after our engagement dinner. Each time terrible service.
After how this workplace treated me, I'll never go back. But I would also never go back purely based upon how the service is. If I'm to go to a restaurant, I do expect basics to be taken care of such as drinks, cutlery, and proper sequencing of the dishes.
Again, the food here is the best in the city without a doubt. But the front-staff can do with an ounce less of snobbery and an ounce more of care for the...
Read moreI loved that they took some of there dishes to add to grocery stores. Unfortunately I had it once and loved it to death!. (True Italian like myself, has to special order. (Everything !) to get the proper ricotta specialized cheese and make it in lasagna and certain ingredients used to make this product is spectacular!) I don't know if there's been a shipping issue or problem of why Kroger doesn't carry it or has been out of stock for a while but I miss this this is the best you will ever have all lasagna with that special ricotta cheese that they put in and you can't buy that ricotta cheese in a store it's a special order made.) and believe me it's very rare to find something this good especially in Mississippi! And say you got it from the store it's in the fresh department by the deli. You can take that wrap it up in a certain way as it comes freeze it depending how you do it and it will last for 6 months pull it out and thought and cook it it tastes like it was just made. (Fyi) I liked the old recipe, I don't know why you changed it? The old recipe was actually perfection of flavors of both northern and southern Italy coming...
