This is the place, doughnut fans. I don't eat a lot of doughnuts, but when I do, I am insistent that it be the best experience possible. So glad that the first doughnut shop I came to after moving to Sun City recently surpassed all expectations.
Honestly, the delightful and entertaining service is worth a few stars by itself. Coffee, which was cordially insisted upon for me by the owner, was quite good also. But then... the doughnut. I got two of the old fashioned bars with no glaze. Upon first bite I was amazed: such excellence right here in little old Sun City? Who could have imagined. It tasted French... because of its surprisingly judicious sugar content: one can rarely find such lightly-sweetened desserts of any kind in America. The oil used is clearly high-quality and not over-used: not one tiny hint of rancidity. Gorgeous flavor is permitted to rise above that gentle note of sugar, and the texture! Perfect. It's unprofessional and quite...
Read moreI gave up going to this place because they hardly have the donut we want-- unless you get there right when they open. I asked if she can make more of it since it's high in demand, but she said basically it's a hit and miss. (It's their cream cheese filled croissants and chocolate bars). She told me to come earlier, but based on my work schedule, etc., I can't get in that early (before 11am). I asked maybe extend her hours?? (I think they close at 1pm or 2?) She then said sarcastically, "all donut shops close early." Well I guess I'll go to the rare donut shops that don't...
