Vintage tavern serving great food for decades. Their original pizza was top notch back in the day. My party ordered the Brothers Three-style pizza instead and several Wabashes. My brother and I called ahead for a pick-up order and bellied up to the bar for a few drinks while we waited. Friendly service, very well priced refreshing adult beverages, and an interior that hasn’t changed in ages. Thank you for keeping that magic alive. Don’t come here for pretentious ingredients or free-range pepperoni. Come here to be nourished.
The deluxe pizza was done well in that “cut in square” pizza sort of way. Much to my delight there still is a serious layer of cheese that only a proper Midwest tavern can deliver. The denseness of each square hit that sweet spot in your stomach as your taste buds thanked you for finally feeding it something worth the wait.
The Wabash is their house burger that comes with double patties, pat of butter, crunchy pickles, white raw onions (kiss me, you asshole), catsup, mustard, and a slice of cheese. The toasted bun still has that local bakery quality and ties it all together. Unfolding the white wrapper that transports it to you is that moment when the true gift is revealed. No angels singing but there should be. They have their own food and beer going on so you’re on your own for special effects.
I need to order their original pizza next time I’m in town. It’s an experience on its own, but I can only keep face it’s ordering only one...
Read moreThe food was excellent. My boyfriend & I ordered the 2 burgers and pizza deal! Which is amazing deal and the food was delicious. Sometimes the food is a hit or miss! The burgers meat was not good grizzly beef chucks very gross. Buns have been burnt! Pizza dough was not done was still doughy. So happy this time it was a great experience. Our experience with the waitstaff was not the case! The waitress that greeted us was very rude. We also heard her be rude to other customers! Our actual waitress was very nice but super lazy. She never gave us menus but she didn’t seem to want to get us any either. She asked us if we wanted parmassan cheese. We said Yes! She grabs the one from the next table. For one it’s gross you give us somebody else’s Dirty! Not cold and fresh! Gross moldy cheese! Pure lazy! If i wanted theirs I would of grabbed it myself. We don’t get to dine out much but when we do why is it so hard to have a descent experience. Hope the waitstaff gets better! At least pretend that you...
Read moreUnfamiliar with the place, or just passing through town? Here's what you'll need to know: It's a restaurant first and foremost. It mainly is known for the Wabash, a double burger with a crisped bun, rather mild sharp cheddar, a pad of butter, ketchup, pickle, onion (the works) and brown mustard upon request. The pizza is not traditional, i.e. handtossed or pan style. It is a bar style, thinner crust, cut into squares (but nothing like a frozen pizza).
There are 2 tv's with a game usually on both. You can eat at the bar, in a booth or at a table.
Alcoholic beverages are available but it isn't a bar that also serves food but rather the other way around. So you needn't worry about barflies and sloppy drunk patrons.
I recommend a mug or pitcher of 1919 root beer to wash your meal down.
There is a 2 Wabash and a pizza deal available daily. Four people will probably set you back $30 to $40 with a decent tip but IMHO the food is worth the price. It is my preference when I make...
