Cousins is one of my family’s favorite local sub shops, unfortunately a particular staff member (older female with many tattoos )the last few visits has treated myself and other customers disrespectful and complains when they order too much food and don’t call ahead. It really seems she hates her job and working and takes it out on customers. Really a terrible business practice and experience if they want to remain open ! They should be happy that customers are keeping them in business. I didn’t think ordering 5 subs was too much for 3 staff members to handle? An older gentleman politely stated, he tried to call ahead but no one answered the phone the 3 times he called for over an hour with no answer. I generally use the on line ordering app, but was driving on my way home from work when my family called to ask if I could have a treat and pick up some subs for dinner that night . With the economy in the worst shape in my lifetime and gas & inflation at record highs spending $60-70 on subs is sometimes a little luxury even in Mequon folks.
I understand a lot of business are short staffed but this was not the case that particular night ( 2 teenager staff members and the older female employee were all working ) John, the owner was not at the store that particular evening. She blamed to the older customer , john for not being around to answer the phone . Total of 5 customers in the store at the time , 3 had orders in process and were waiting for the orders and 2 waiting to order (myself and an older gentleman) Both myself and the older customer were patient in waiting in line not saying a thing. The employee was making subs and said rudely you’ll just have to wait , so I waited 2 minutes patiently Understand they were busy around 5pm dinner rush . The employee then started to take my order I ordered 2 of the same subs Steak Phillie and she rudely stopped me and said how many subs are you ordering and I said 5 ( which 2 were going to be just a plain cheese subs so not a hard Order , but she didn’t let me finish ) rudely just turned around and went back to the grill and said well you’ll just have to wait , you come in here a lot why didn’t you call a head!??! To my earlier note that wouldn’t have mattered since no one was answering the phone anyways from the older customers experience waiting in line with me ! The other customer we as shocked as I was she was being so rude to customers . Well I waited another minute being ignored then turned around and left with out ordering I said the well I guess you don’t need my business if you don’t want to take my order and walked out . I then drove down to Jimmy John’s and got my subs. They were incredibly busy 20 people in line or waiting but plenty of staff and the ordering went smoothly. I wasn’t rudely complain to by staff for ordering 5 subs or ignored ! Sorry for the long review but wanted John the owner to understand and be aware that these continued terrible experience, is really hurting his local business. I love cousin subs and a long time customer , but will not be back at the Mequon location until that employee changes her attitude or learns how to treat customers . Sad but True and just wanted to keep everyone informed on the recent state of business at Cousins Subs Mequon location. I have never felt more insulted that a business didn’t want my hard earned dollars , to help support their local business model which is to make quality subs for customers!
Update it’s been over 3 weeks and no response from cousins locally or the corporate web site . I immediately filled out the same information on the recommended cousins customer service website and still no response. Only the automated response directing to the customer service site . Read moreI went to this cousins today to grab some sandwiches and the two girls working there could not have been more rude. It takes a lot for me to write a bad google review, but this bothered me for the rest of my day. Either they were in a fight and hate each other or hate their job. The only reason I gave a star here is because cousins sandwiches don't deserve the bad review, but the customer service does. These girls need to learn to say hello, thank you, have a nice day, make eye contact and get the scowls off their faces. The one roles her eyes when I ordered the cheese steak because she had to cook something....
Read moreOrdered online yesterday (Jan 1, 2025) with no indication that this location was closed for New Years Day. We arrived to find a handwritten note on the door saying it was closed. They had no problem still charging our card for the $50 worth of food we were trying to get. We ended up driving over to the one in Thiensville but we were on our way out of town and this added a bunch of time on to our trip which was annoying.
