Been going since childhood. Best soft serve on Earth. Good people, small business. Few points with regard to other moronic (low-star) reviews.
Their prices are great. If you think they are "expensive", you should try to get a job before spending money unnecessarily on a treat. It's seriously reasonable, and always has been.
Not enough "yogurt" flavors? It's an ice cream bar. They have a handful, and the wife says they are delicious.
A tiny business pays an unfair amount in credit card processing fees. Especially on small transactions. Being "cash only" helps the little guys stay in business. Negative reviews for this reason are asinine.
Most people are annoyed by loud obnoxious cars and booming stereos. In the unlikely event that the parking lot has one or the other, remember you are in Meriden. This isn't exactly a quiet city. Blaming a small business, or hurting their chances of continued success by leaving a negative review makes you a bigger schmuck than those with mufflers bigger than their stereos. Everyone is welcome here, and that's the way it should be.
Whining about no seats? Really people? If you have trouble standing, maybe chill out on the ice cream. Just sayin'.
Les's is culturally significant to those who grew up here. Give 'em some love. Support their business. Have...
Read more6/28/24 For as long as I can remember, Les’ has been in this same location, and that’s at least 50 years. But I’d never stopped in to try their offerings until today. Why, you might ask? Proximity, plain and simple. There’s DQ a mile from where I live and Les’ is about eight miles away. Aaaaaannyway, I decided to go out of my way to give this historic little ice cream joint a shot. I was a bit dehydrated from riding my motorcycle so I felt a Root Beer Italian Ice or maybe a slushie would hit the spot. I opted for a piña colada slushie that sounded refreshing. Wrong choice on my part. It was WAAAAAAY too sweet. So sweet that I couldn’t finish it. Don’t get me wrong, it had great piña colada flavor, but just over the top with sweetner. Lesson learned. Next time (and there will be a next time), I’ll try a flurry, which sounds like it’s a cousin to my favorite DQ treat, a Blizzard. Or maybe that root beer Italian Ice. I’m awarding 4 stars for the place’s longevity and reputation for serving great ice cream. I’ll go out of my way again...
Read moreIce cream is great, best soft serve I've had. It is soft serve only, but there's extra flavors of frozen yogurt, sugar free ice cream, Italian ice, and toppings galore.
The staff are always friendly and owner is an absolute delight.
It is cash only, but prices are more than reasonable.
Go there! Get some cones or a milkshake. A flurry, a parfait, or an upside down banana split.
While it is true that there is no outside seating, as another reviewer noted, there are no places to put any seating that wouldn't eliminated much needed parking spaces as it's usually busy at this neighborhood institution. Stand by your car and meet neighbors, sit in the car with the windows down and doors open and enjoy the evening.
Everything is delicious. I've been...
