On A Positive Note: The cook has a very upbeat personality.

I haven’t been here in years so I planned a lunch/shopping ladies day. For starters, I had to call out to the server whom was seated at the opposite end of the restaurant, rolling silverware. I ordered an appetizer and a “Melon Ball.” 🤢 Upon receipt, it resembled a tall glass of orange juice, which I do not like. I tried to drink it but it reminded me of when I use to take iron pills and used the orange juice to wash it down. I have to give the manager credit. He was willing to make it better. It was better but still unsatisfactory. I did not complain any further. I accepted that an orange is now a melon. 👀🤷‍♀️ My friend didn’t like her pina coloda either, it was watery and had ice chips in it, but she did not complain. I don’t think they added any alcohol to either drink or they drowned it in orange juice.

The food was good and plentiful for a lunch portion. The cook provided the usual hibachi entertainment- “saki in your mouth” and the opportunity for one to pretend to be a hungry seal.😊 I give him 5 stars.

The Verdict: The food is decent and the cook was great. I would not order mixed drinks here or advise one to go to the bar and watch it being...

I have been here too many times to count for years and at the end of the day, it's okay. The service has gotten better. In the past, myself and my friends always laughed about how rude the staff was (it was that bad). Now they are much more polite, but I wouldn't say the service is excellent. Their sushi is definitely good and probably the best in the Wallingford area, but I have gotten sushi many times where it is not prepared correctly. For example many times (probably more than not) I will get sweet potato rolls and the sweet potato isn't even cooked...at all. I would say that this frequently happens with takeout almost as though the food quality is compromised due to the time constraint of preparation. Many of times the sushi rolls fall apart when you pick them up. I have found that all of these problems arise when I get takeout. Their accuracy is great, and the atmosphere and cleanliness is also very good. I've gotten habachi once here and it was fine, i've never gotten it elsewhere so I have nothing to compare it to. I like the fact that they have...

I’d like to start by saying that the food was good. The hibachi chef was great and made the dinner fun.

What was really disappointing was the service on arrival and during the dinner.

We had a 6pm reservation. We arrived at 5:55pm and made the team aware of our reservation. They advised that they were just setting things up and would be with us. 15 minutes passed and no further update.

Finally, 6:20pm and we were seated. Our drinks order was taken not long after we were seated. This is great! However, the drinks didn’t get to us until 6:40pm.

After this, our first part of the dinner was not provided to us until 7:20pm. At this point we were low on our first drinks. We had to find a waiter/waitress to ask for new drinks.

After this point, the main part of the dinner was served and the chef did an excellent job.

Overall, a good dinner but very disappointing service, especially the wait time at the beginning. Having a reservation should show that you need tables to be ready by 6pm for the guests who...

My wonderful niece, who just received a well-deserved promotion, treated me to a delightful dinner at her favorite restaurant. I know I should have insisted on treating her, but she was so enthusiastic about it that I couldn’t say no! She raved about this spot and was incredibly persuasive, and let me tell you, I’m so glad I listened to her. The hibachi grill there was one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen—seriously, it looked like they had just opened! We ordered the hibachi meal, and the food was nothing short of phenomenal. The filet mignon literally melted in my mouth, and the rice, lo mein, and vegetables were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Hats off to the chef! I also decided to try the scorpion cocktail, a massive bowl filled with various liquors, topped off with a burning flame. It was delicious! Our hibachi chef was not only talented but also humorous and down to earth, making for a truly enjoyable evening. Thank you, dear niece, for such a memorable night!

As a sushi aficionado, I can confidently say that Sakimura in Meriden, Connecticut, is the best in the area! The sushi here is absolutely divine, with every bite bursting with freshness and flavor. But what truly sets Sakimura apart are their flaming scorpion bowls – they are a must-try! The ambiance is perfect for a romantic date night, with dim lighting and a cozy atmosphere. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or just looking for a great dining experience, Sakimura is the place to be. Highly recommended! -Marisa Balletti-Lavoie Queen of Sass
