I made an online appointment for a walk in. I showed up, was checked in right away. The front end staff was wonderful. I didn’t wait long and was brought into a room where the (I am assuming) medical assistant took my vitals, went over my meds and asked why I was there. She was also wonderful. Thats where the good service ended.
The PA walks in asks why I am there. I told her I tested positive for Covid and felt horrible and was getting worse. I have a few underlying medical conditions and my primary doctor wanted me to go to the walk in.
The PA was dismissive. She never even asked what my underlying medical conditions were. She said I was past the time to take antiviral medication and it was expensive. I explained my doctor said I probably couldn’t take the antiviral anyways with the meds I am on. I told her I get sinus infections and I also wanted to just make sure I didn’t have one along with the Covid. She said “Covid is going around, what are you going to do.” She listened to my lungs and that was it. Never checked my ears, nose, throat. I never even took my mask off except by the medical assistant to take my temperature. Never touched my face to see if I felt pressure or pain. I said well how will I know if I have a sinus infection as well. She said follow up with your doctor. I said my doctor told me to come here. She said you can only tell if you have a sinus infection by a CT. This is only “Urgent Care”.
So this is urgent care and you don’t diagnose and treat sinus infections????
The PA heard Covid and that was it. Didn’t bother to see if I have any other issue, even after I specifically asked her.
I also explained I have heart issues and was having some palpitations. I think from OTC meds I was taking for sinuses but I wasn’t sure. She never addressed it at all. No EKG. She didn’t even listen to my heart. She put the stethoscope on my back and told me to cough once. That’s all she did. She just wanted to get away from me. After she conferred with her superior, she came back and told me through the door she was calling in a couple meds for my cough. She wouldn’t even come in the room again. Horrible experience. Please don’t go here. You will not get the care you deserve or require. From the time I walked in there until the time I left was a total of about 20 minutes. Most of that time was checking my vitals and waiting for the PA to come in and to return. I do plan on filing a formal...
Read moreI had a horrible experience here and would never recommend this urgent care. We brought our 3 year old daughter in because she had nursemaid's elbow, a relatively common dislocation in young children. This was the first time it happened to her and we didn't know what was wrong, just that she was obviously in pain. We arrived 20 minutes before closing. The entire staff were sitting at the front desk with their coats and bags, chatting and clearly ready to leave. We walked through the front door and they looked over at us with our crying child and coldly said just take her to the ER. I asked them to please check her out. I didn't know what was wrong but she hadn't fallen or anything so it didn't seem to be an ER level emergency. In fact, we had specifically bypassed the ER that was closer to take her to this urgent care. They cut me off and said they weren't going to help her. They were cold, uncompassionate, and downright rude. I was shocked that they turned us away. We had to load my daughter back in her car seat, no easy task as she couldn't bend her arm, and at this point we wouldn't have time to get to a different urgent care so we had no choice but to take her to the ER. Hours of sitting in the ER late at night with an upset toddler, an OVER $1000 BILL(!!) and a 5 second fix. The kicker? The ER staff told us that if this happened again we should just take her to urgent care.
Absolutely sickening the way we were treated. And honestly they could have taken care of her and still been out of there by 8 if they had actually done their jobs. My daughter had this happen one other time a few months later. Shout-out to the urgent care in Corbin's Corner, West Hartford. They were amazing, knew exactly what it was as should any medical professional who deals with children, and fixed her right up.
By the way, this happened two years ago, and I still feel sick when I drive by this place. I work in public service, and I would NEVER treat my patrons the way the way my family was...
Read moreTook my brother there last Sunday due to a cut on his arm from a glass table top and it was bleeding heavily. The staff were all sitting around and didn't seem to take us seriously in our request to get stitches in his arm ASAP. All of them walked or shuffled their feet very slowly to talk to each other leaving us in the middle of reception not knowing what was going on. Guess that's how they act 30 minutes before closing. Only 1 other patient there. We had to keep asking what was going on and they looked bewildered at us like "what?". Finally someone said they were getting the room ready...um..okay. Went into said room and waited another 10 minutes before I went out & asked a nurse when the doctor was going to help him. The nurse thought the doctor was in there, the doctor thought the nurse was in there taking vital signs! The nurse & doctor were very nice but i knew how bad it was when we left home cuz the vein was sticking up where the cut was and took forever to get serviced. For a place that's called Urgent Care, they didn't take us urgently. The nurse even had the pressure tape on his arm so tight that the doctor commented that his hand was turning purple! Never again will I be taking anyone there! Even my Mom had same lack of service there a few months ago. Nor will I recommend them to anyone. Medi-quick on Pomeroy Ave is the best & closest place to go in an emergency or holiday (been there 2 yrs in a row...
