The location was pretty much the highlight of staying here. The accommodations advertised pool and hot tub, and after checking in you can see the "pool closed due to maintenance sign" posted on the door. There was plastic covering all of the doors and windows to the "pool" area, that had obviously been up for quite a LONG time. I asked the clerk when it was expected to be open, and she said it was a day by day thing..when I asked for compensation off of our room price, due to their advertised accommodations being out of service, she said "we don't do that." Honestly, if I hadn't have driven so far and had family to tend to, I would have left then.
I am not a hard person to please. I do want to get that out there. A clean room with things as advertised is all I ask. I'm definitely not a 5 star kind of gal..I don't need luxury.
As for the actual room, it was clean. Minus the Jacuzzi tub (which I was excited to see at first, being the main hot tub was down) until I saw how nasty the jets were..OH and jets didn't work anyway! The bed was sleepable..and the bedding appeared clean. Ooh, don't let me forget that the keycards had to be reprogrammed EVERY time I tried getting back into the room. They were pet friendly for a fee, but you can only come and go through the main doors..the key lock does not work to let you back in on the back entrance, which was closer to the elevator and through less people. The staff was very aware, and it was obviously not a priority..as well as the malfunctioning keylock on my room. The next morning was about as expected. The entire 3rd floor was drenched in the smell of pot. Which, no judging, I don't care what people do, until it affects me.. I got to spend the rest of my day with a massive headache. Breakfast was about par for the course. All of the fruit should have been thrown out the week prior..the oj in the machine came out almost as dark as the coffee.. I think I will stop here. Really wish I'd have taken pics. The room...
Read moreWhen my wife first spotted the hotel she declared, "There it is, the Locust hotel!" She'd obviously misheard me. Made me laugh. Now I think she was right. I'm writing this review laying here with no covers, wide awake at 1am thinking this was a poor choice staying here. How was I to know the room temperature would be no less than 75° all night...and that's with the only small window cracked & the hall door ajar!?! (Is that even safe?) It was nearing 80° earlier. Regardless of how we set the seemingly operative thermostat the temperature only got hotter. We even turned it off. When I called down to ask how to change the temperature I was informed I can't because it's preset for the hotel...and that decision was made by someone else he wouldn't name. Several other questions were met with mute silence. He did offer a fan rather quickly. 🙄 Oddly, when he dropped it off he lightly tapped on the door and ducked right around the corner into an alcove. (I'd immediately opened the door) When I called out several times he reappeared at my elbow. When I tried to ask more questions Vicky was again a man of few or no words...and no solutions. Earlier I'd asked at the desk if I could have a 2nd ice bucket. He seemed astonished, said no one has ever asked for that and there were none. And no alternatives. So much for service. After I was signed in he did inform me the spa was NOT working though. That was another amenity that had lured me here. It was reported working last week after being out previously. Fake review? 🤔 So now, an hour and a half later, with the thermostat off, door & window cracked and a noisy fan running, the temp has dropped to 74. Oh yeah 🧏 Sadly, location also can't rate better because of the resultant ambient road noise. The room does appear to be fairly clean. Breakfast promises to offer some variety. We'll see.
Oh, I forgot. The fan couldn't be plugged in anywhere near the...
Read moreI would’ve given this a much higher review. I had a bad experience with the last of our four day day with the front desk. I’m in Marketing and my children who are nine and 10 wanted to leave a review for a free bag of chips that they were offering And I talked him into doing it at the last and then the lady at the front desk Stop my eight-year-old questioning whether he had given a review we were outside give me an extra view He just hadn’t hit post yet. I went in and she was telling me that a free drink or snack could’ve been candy. I guess we thought but only chips point was they embarrass my son over a stupid bag of chips that Cost $.49 we were giving them some nice five star reviews And I ended up just throwing my credit card in saying just charge me for the damn chips which she did for six dollars and then wouldn’t give me a receipt so bizarre so I’m going to give a accurate review. We had to change rooms because the air conditioner was broken and it was 78° for the first two days we were there the manager it was very nice. Changed my room next-door so we didn’t have to move all of our stuff very far. It’s an older hotel so I understand but The factory made that that is a issue with this hotel obviously the room was very clean. Pool is very nice, but it is a cheap hotel but they’ve done a fairly good job of fixing up but certainly not worth the five star review that I was going to give and left a bad taste in my mouth because of this front desk lady so charging me six dollars for $1.50 worth of chips. I’m gonna leave accurate review.. Manager gets an A+, unbelievably nice housekeeping and staff A+ rooms D in front Desk staff F and still haven’t received my receipt which she wouldn’t print out which is so weird I paid $80 a night with tax I heard them charging 200 a night including tax, which is outrageous probably won’t return because of that front...
