24 May 21, approx 8:30-10pm, our grp of 7 people went to this Denny's. We waited and the attending lady got our info for seating. She stated the back room was full. There was a large corner boothe to which all of our party would first and we only need to add two chairs to the other side of the table from the booth seats. All was well, we all had worn our masks and were waiting for the table to be cleared. There was another large group that came in behind us and they were waiting in the foyer. While waiting, one of our disabled senior members sat in a booth, that we found out later was blocked off due to COVID restrictions. This early 30 something smart A__, supposed manager came out and started treating us as if we were horrible people. I assure you we are all upstanding and intelligent people. He yelled at the seated male, just happens to be a Cop! The Cop explained he just needed to sit down while we waited. The Cop has frequented this Denny's in the past. The manager was belittling the Cop. Cop was cool, not letting this poor excause of a manager know who he was. Then the manager started giving th group behind us a hard time for being in the foyer. The lady had a baby she was trying to keep out of the heat!! He ran them out side as if they were bad dogs!! All but two of our group had arrived. When they did he tried to keep them outside and not let them join our table. I had waved to them our location. Both are disabled individuals. The group behind us basically did not listen to this ignorant so called manager, and they stepped inside further. The manager, out of control, came over to our table and insisted that our table could not let the 2 members join us,even though, we are all family and had the appropriate number of seats. By this time the Cop and I, Retired Military disabled Veteran had had enough of this harrassment by this so-called manager. We both started to go over th points of contention, properly! This guy obviously doesn't know what the Governor said about lifted restrictions and space restrictions. Other Denny's know what they are! Tiring of this guys utter disrespect, we all left the building. Except the last to arrive. It is so hard for them to walk that they did stay after we left. We felt bad that this un educated person had split our family group!!! Who does he think he is!!!!! We will never go back to that Dennys again and hope you will not either! ALSO! On another note, the place was overall filthy!!! This guy was worried about space issue that he made an issue, out of ignorance that he did nothing to keep the place sanitized, which prevents COVID transmission better than social distancing of family members!!! This guy should be fired over his disruption and discrimination due to the make up of our family! We have cross races; white, Indian, Mexican, Spanish, Irish, Canadian, Black, and Scottish, young, old, straight, gay, and disabled. We could file a discrimination suit against him and the Denny's franchise owner.Stay Far away from this place!!!!!!...
Read moreWe went in this past Sunday as a lazy lunch date after a night of drinking, our waitress didn’t really offer any specials or made any conversation, asked us what we wanted to drink and bounced. Came back, dropped off the sodas without straws, got our orders and disappeared again. Clearly didn’t want to deal with us. A Spanish speaking family sat behind us and our waitress morphed into a completely different person. She offered them the lunch specials, was super chatty, guided them through the dessert menu and gave them a way better service than she gave us. Since we couldn’t find her for a while I took this opportunity to ask her for straws cause clearly it skipped her mind. I was really excited to go in, the way she treated us made me feel really uncomfortable. Oh btw I’m a proud Spanish speaking Latina and I was really disappointed to see that the service my boyfriend and I were getting didn’t even come close to the welcoming service the family received. The food arrived and I won’t even lie, it was the saddest looking meal I’ve ever seen, I ordered a chicken sandwich, the bread was uneatable, practically fell apart in my hands I just ate the chicken and some fries. My bf ordered steak and mashed potatoes he liked it. The mashed potatoes that came with the steak had white gravy and that was the best part of the meal, the best part it the whole experience! It was truly yummy and the reason this review isn't 2 stars. Finally, I paid $40 for a sad meal and an even sadder service. I really didn’t feel like it was worth it 🙄 I really wanted to get dessert after the meal, but after that lame attempt at service, my bf and I just wanted to get out of there. I’m not a fan of spending money just to spend so I don’t think we’ll be returning to this Denny’s anytime soon. If you are looking for a nice brunch lunch place no offense, look around for something better, something you'd...
Read moreWe recently visited the Denny’s located at Main and Stapley in Mesa, Arizona, to try out their American diner fare, specifically their Grand Slams. The restaurant offers a typical Denny’s ambiance and decor, nothing particularly unique or standout in terms of atmosphere. It’s comfortable and accessible for all guests, making it a convenient option for a casual meal.
One notable menu promotion was the Grand Slam deal, where you can buy one and get a second for just $1—a fantastic price point for what you get. However, the food itself was less impressive. The eggs I ordered were overcooked, the hash browns arrived cold, and the pancakes were disappointingly flat, almost like a tortilla rather than the fluffy stacks I expected. Presentation and taste were very much in line with what you might expect from a typical Denny’s, but not in a positive way.
The service, on the other hand, was a strong point. Our server did a wonderful job, providing good service despite the restaurant being busy with several large groups on a Saturday morning. Wait times for seating and food delivery were short, which was appreciated.
Comparing this Denny’s to others in the area, I found IHOP to do a better job overall. The restaurant itself was a little dirty and unkempt, which detracted from the dining experience.
In summary:
The Grand Slam 2-for-1 deal is a great value. Food quality and preparation need improvement, especially eggs and pancakes. Service was attentive and efficient. The space was busy but accessible, though cleanliness was lacking. Compared to competitors like IHOP, this location falls short.
Would I recommend this restaurant? Maybe. It’s an acceptable choice if you’re looking for a quick, budget-friendly meal, but don’t expect anything exceptional. If you have higher expectations for food quality and ambiance, you might want to consider other...
