I had an absolutely horrendous experience at LA Crab Shack in Mesa, and I cannot emphasize enough how unacceptable their behavior was. My recent visit to this seafood crab boil restaurant in Mesa, AZ, turned into a distressing incident of racial profiling and discrimination.
As soon as I walked in, I noticed the atmosphere was unwelcoming, but I chose to overlook it, hoping for a delicious meal. However, my optimism quickly faded when I noticed the staff's demeanor towards me. Throughout my entire time at the restaurant, I felt like I was being closely monitored solely because of my race.
To my shock and dismay, upon finishing my meal, I was openly accused of attempting to run off without paying. I cannot begin to describe the humiliation and embarrassment I felt, surrounded by other customers who were visibly perplexed by the situation. It was evident that the staff singled me out because of my race, assuming I would engage in such dishonest behavior.
Not only was this accusation completely baseless, but it was also profoundly hurtful. I have never been treated this way before in any establishment, and it was disheartening to see that such prejudice still exists in this day and age.
I approached the staff to address the situation, but instead of an apology or an acknowledgment of their wrongdoing, I was met with indifference and denial. They completely dismissed my concerns, further adding to the distress I was already experiencing.
The incident ruined what should have been a pleasant dining experience. LA Crab Shack not only failed to provide me with a satisfactory meal but also subjected me to humiliation and discrimination, leaving a lasting negative impression.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone. It is essential that we, as customers, stand up against such behavior and refuse to support businesses that perpetuate discrimination and prejudice. LA Crab Shack in Mesa needs a drastic change in its approach to customer service and cultural sensitivity. Until they address these issues, I would advise everyone to steer clear...
Read moreMy family and I were frequent guests of this restaurant. We enjoyed the flavors of the food and generally had decent service. I’m not sure if there’s new management or a shortage of servers, but the last few times we’ve visited the service has been obnoxiously slow. We would see the severs talking behind the bar area and ignoring their tables. Tonight was our last visit to LA crab shack. I referred my family here for a birthday and am outraged at the service received. All steam bags came out in a timely manner however the friend baskets were a complete disaster. There were 3 orders of fish and chips and only AFTER all food came out were we nonchalantly notified that they had only ONE order available. We had to wait an HOUR and a half for my uncles to get their food. Drinks were not refilled and most were left without any tools to eat. Orders came out WRONG and by the time all the food came out, everyone was ready to leave , but they couldn’t even save themselves with that task because the tickets took forever to be received. There was absolutely no communication from our server as to why our for food was so messed up. On top of all that, my family who had to wait over an hour for their plates, did not get anything comp’d off their tickets. We were not looking for anything free, but any well managed restaurant would have handled the situation in a more amicable manner with more attention to customer service. We were a large party and unfortunately, gratuity was added but absolutely not deserved in the slightest way. We are unbelievably disappointed and I am embarrassed for even recommending this place for my family to spend their hard...
Read moreHonestly I don't understand the reviews left by people about this place. We got food for 2. One appetizer (Gator Nuggets) Two dinners (Snow Crab) and a bowl of Gumbo just to try it. The Gator Nuggets and the Gumbo were highly recommended but they were soooo salty we didn't even finish them. The Crab is served in a nylon bag sort of thing, like a big nylon pouch. Seemed like they filled the bags with the crab legs, sauce and the sides then lowered them in boiling water and served the bags as they were when they got hot. Super weird and messy especially since I had to reach halfway up my forearm to get the food out. But then we had nothing to put it on so I HAD to ask for plates and they brought us 2 black paper plates. So the porcelain plates you see in pictures on the menu are for show. Then I had to ask for forks and got plastic ones. But the kicker was when I asked for melted butter which is always served along with Crustacea at any seafood restaurant I've ever been to, I was told there was an extra charge for it. Ok it was a $1 charge that won't break anybody's bank account, but it just made the whole operation look cheap. Super Cheap. The quality was low, the food was way overpriced and the staff had a look on their face as if they were doing you a favor by letting you spend money at that place. Total bill was $120 and change. Bottom line is that if you want to have crab or any other form of Crustacea, "Joe's Crab Shack" is still the best in town as far as chains go. ...
