I finally went here for the first time! I'd been following Fatboy Sandos on Instagram, enjoying their videos and posts. I made the trek to Mesa to try out their bento boxes and fruit sandos. It was a bit pricey, but the price is to pay for the milk bread and freshly made unqiue food. My partner and I ordered bento boxes, we got the egg sando, pork katsu sando, the furikake fries, the marinated bok choy and potato salad. We also got the strawberry sandos and drinks offered: a can of thai tea and melon soda. The location is inside of an International market that boasts an incredible selection of food, near the front at the food court. It was spacious and clean, ableit very noisy with 3 different speakers playing their respective music. The wait wasn't very long, and we got our food served in to go trays. The food was hot and ready, the bread soft and tasty. The pork katsu was fried to perfection, the pork not tough and tasted amazing with the sauce, mayo, and mustard. The egg sando had perfectly soft boiled eggs with wonderfully made egg salad, it was not bland and very comforting to eat. The food fills you up very fast! The furikake fries were savory with a bit of spice along with amazing texture. The marinated bok choy was chewy and a great accompaniment to the sandos. My partner loved the potato salad with the soft boiled egg. The drinks went well with it. As a date spot or a treat or both, Fatboy Sandos is a fun tasty place to go to. You also get to explore an international market with a lot of amazing food. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. (They also offer a point system with a birthday reward, so make sure to sign up!) I'm so happy they opened their second location here in Phoenix. Oh and make sure to take advantage of their...
Read moreWe went here after seeing it on various Instagrams and we were NOT disappointed 😩👌🩵 It's located just inside the AZ International Marketplace, to the right side when walking in. Plenty of dine-in seating. We decided to order the bento which comes with your choice of a sando OR a rice bowl, 2 sides, and a drink. We each had the furikake fries, and miso ginger bok choy sides. Waffle fries are normally hit or miss for me, but they were the perfect amount of crispy and thick, and the flavor was excellent!👌 The sauce they come with only made it even better but they're flavorful enough that I could also just eat them as is and be perfectly happy. The Miso Ginger Bok Choy was super fresh and refreshing, like a salad with great cronch (crunch); I could see eating it all the time but especially refreshing in summer. For mains, we had the Pork Katsu sando and the Japanese Egg Salad sando. The pork katsu was juicy and tender, exactly the quality you want! The Egg Salad was perfectly balanced in mayo/mustard flavor mix, it hits that egg salad sandwich craving 100% - the whole boiled eggy in the middle is chef's kiss. Overall, 10/10, highly recommend and absolutely will be coming here again. Next try is the Ebi Katsu Sando! The boss that rang us up recommended it and was super friendly and chill. Not to forget the sweet fruit sando and drinks, they have a small selection of drinks but the options compliment the meal well. The fruit sando (we had strawberry) was very delicious! Light and perfectly sweet strawberries in it. I could eat so many. The bread of all the sandos were fantastically soft, layered-textured and fresh. No soggy or stale bread here. The sandwhiches are definitely filling, so expect to be very full if you get the bento! You can tell there's a lot of love in what...
Read moreI was there yesterday on their first day opening and had a terrible experience. I ended up waiting for about an hour for my food and didn’t even get the sandos I was hoping to get. Half of their menu ran out within the first day and they didn’t even put a sign over the menu saying they had ran out. As soon as you reached the cashier thats when they told me they had run out most of the items listed on their menu. Everything was extremely overpriced. The lack of communication was awful, the cashier ONLY DECIDED to tell us at the END that they didn’t accept cash at the time and also told us that their would be a 20 minute wait. (It ended up being a WHOLE HOUR). As they were preparing our order and we checked up on our order when we had waited 40 minutes, that’s when they told us the item we ordered had run out and they had to get more. They did not tell us AT ALL that they had run out which made us wait even longer. Which again ended up being an hour. When we did recieve our food in the bag the woman had put our canned drinks in the PAPER BAG which almost ended up breaking the bag. Lastly, when I tried the food it was very, very, very disappointing. The bento box was very average only thing that was truly enjoyable were the fries. The onigiri was also disappointing it wasn’t spicy at all and had very little filling. (We ordered the spicy tuna and chili one). The bok choy was also very average. Overall food was a 4/10 and...
