I'm really torn on giving this review but I'll be honest. I really really liked the Gilbert location. With that being said and that location having closed we figured we would give the downtown Mesa location a try. I did look on their website seeing if it was handicapped accessible didn't see anything saying that it wasn't but immediately walking up to the front there were three stairs, okay three stairs not too big of a deal unless you're in a wheelchair LOL I do believe they have a back entrance Through the Alley that is wheelchair accessible. Upon walking in the place is extremely clean good music playing, it was a ghost town which was surprising for Midday Saturday but that was okay because we figured we wouldn't have to wait for any games. There were no employees to be seen we use the token machine or should I say attempted to and it would not take any bills or even the bills that were given to us by the bartender who eventually showed up we were able to obtain tokens at the bar though and she was friendly about it. I believe the only had one person working the entire place which is fine because there was maybe four to five people with the entire arcade. They have a few games downstairs and about a half a dozen electronic Dart machines. I was looking around for the the rest of the arcade when my children pointed out to me something that said level two which apparently means two more stories of stairs to walk up I only bring this up because I'm in heart failure and it is extremely hard for me to get upstairs with the way my heart functions. Strike 2 on the handicapped accessible LOL we went upstairs again super clean very well organized the price of the games were fairly affordable except for the pinball which was a dollar per game to play versus a quarter to 50 cents for all of the other games. He had a bar upstairs but again no employees working up there. The restrooms were very clean and taking care of and well stocked to me it seems like there's a lot less games at this location then the Gilbert location but it is what it is and we were trying to make a day of going out and having fun so we did just that. We didn't try the food or the drinks as we had lunch prior to going in so I can't comment on that Gilbert location was decent when it came to that so I assume it's the same thing at this location going down the stairs was just as miserable for me as going up but again it is what it is at that point. I really really wanted to give this place five stars when we have spoken to the owner at the Gilbert location he was always so friendly and we still wanted to patronize his business. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be back but if you're into Super vintage arcade games like Pole Position Super Mario Blitz NBA Jam Mortal Kombat and things like that along with pinball you'll be in heaven as long as you can deal with...
Read moreCame in because we heard of a new speakeasy on main st. There was a wait so they sent us inside to play while we waited. Went upstairs where the majority of the games are and decided to grab a drink. The cocktail list was incredible, all went with the arcade theme. definitely a plus. The bartender however was extremely rude. She gave off the impression that she didn’t want to be there, got visibly frustrated when we asked questions about certain cocktails. (Short, tattoos) Decided we’d grab the round and wait outside until our table was ready. Downstairs we were greeted by another bartender as we walked by, he offered us some tokens for the wait but at that point we were already ready to call it quits with this place. His energy and customer service was the exact opposite of what we had just experienced upstairs. Thank goodness for him Didn’t get a chance to get his name but I wish I did!
Speakeasy was a great experience, delicious cocktails, great vibe, great service. Matt was so good at checking in to make sure everything was going okay, a little bit of a wait but not bad with good company. Will...
Read moreLevel 1 Arcade Bar gets five stars all day. You want video games? They got em. Want darts? Yup, got that too. Craving food and drinks that do not taste like microwave sadness? They are covered there as well. It is the kind of place that checks every box for a solid night out without trying to be overly trendy or pretentious.
The vibe is super chill. It does get busy at night, but in a good way, like everyone just showed up for the same reason, to eat, drink, and pretend their reflexes are still sharp enough for Street Fighter. They run dart tournaments, which is fun whether you are throwing or just spectating with a drink in hand and silently judging everyone's aim.
Staff is awesome. Friendly, fast, and they actually seem to enjoy being there, which is rare in any place that serves both food and cocktails while blasting arcade sounds.
I used to be a regular here before I moved, and any time I wanted to get out of the house, grab some food, and throw some darts, this was the spot. It is fun, low pressure, and packed with just enough nostalgia to make you feel like a kid with better beverage options....
